Multiple Steps at the Same Time? Sounds Impossible.

In a recent conversation with one of the Chapel’s awesome volunteers, we were discussing the many different items involved in the Chapel’s reconstruction following the recent storms. This person mentioned that we’re taking one step at a time, which in some ways, is true. However, I’m watching us take multiple steps at the same time.

Of course, since I don’t personally know anyone who has more than two legs, it would seem foolish for me to make such a statement. People can’t take the second step until the first step is taken, so it only confuses the matter when we try to take more than one step at a time.

The progress at the Chapel is amazing. We are moving forward quickly, and though someone had to take the first step to get started, we are currently taking many steps at the same time. And, yes, as we’ve already stated, when multiple steps are taken at the same time, it can get confusing.

Thankfully, we aren’t limited to just two legs. The Chapel has lots of legs and arms and hearts that are pouring themselves into the Chapel’s reconstruction. It’s not easy, for sure. In fact, before we began the clean-up and reconstruction, it may have seemed to be an impossible task. But we have joined together, with whatever bits and pieces we could scrounge, and made considerable progress. In fact, I’m guessing that if someone didn’t see our damage before the clean-up began, they might not even know that anything happened at all!

That last statement isn’t true. Yes, folks will notice the changes. Those of us who have been here a long time have grown so accustomed to some things that we don’t even notice the change. We pretend to not see the temporary restrooms, construction trailers, and massive dumpsters on the premises. We’re also accustomed to our concrete Sanctuary floors and constant battles with our air conditioners.

Yep, it ain’t perfect, but it’s really incredible. So many steps forward have already been taken and lots more are simultaneously being taken right now. How is it happening? It’s happening because of God’s work through lots of people who are responding to God’s Call. They are taking the first step, then another step, and another.

Sounds, impossible, right? But it’s actually happening right before our eyes. God is doing some big stuff, taking multiple steps at once and carrying the Chapel right along.

See you this Sunday, online and in person, at the Chapel!

God Bless, Brock.
