“Finish Strong; Begin Stronger”
How was your 2025? How was your holiday season? Did you overcook the turkey? Did you and Uncle Roy become entangled in an argument that sent him home angry and left you with a few holiday regrets?
Whatever has transpired, there is still much reason for hope.
This time last year, our community was still ravaged by rotting drywall and debris-filled trees. Six months ago, much had been cleaned up, but empty bank accounts and the looming storm season left many feeling uncertain. Three months ago, we wondered if people would even return to the island.
These anxieties are just a few that many of us carried through 2025. I could have named many more, but I choose these because we had little to no control over them, and yet, by God’s grace, we made it.
As 2025 comes to a close and we step into 2026, things may still feel outside of our control. Don’t sweat it. That’s okay. Much of life is beyond our control, which is one reason our faith in God is so important. Time, energy, and resources can solve some problems, but many challenges, like the forces of nature, are simply beyond our ability to change.
Faith matters because it gives us a healthy lens through which we view the world. Encountering challenges through a lens of faith allows us to approach life differently, preparing more effectively and problem-solving more creatively.
2025 was far from perfect. 2026 won’t be perfect either. But placing our faith in the LORD gives us the opportunity to become the best people we can be.
Let’s finish 2025 strong and begin 2026 even stronger. Give God a few minutes today, and a few more tomorrow. Don’t forget the LORD, because the LORD never forgets us.
Blessings,
Brock
