“Short Week Leads To Big Fall”
It’s a short week. It’s short because Labor Day, celebrated this week, provided lots of folks an additional day off. This created a much-sought-after, three-day weekend, as evidenced by the increased traffic and crowded beach parking lots.
But now, those who were able to enjoy an additional day away from their respective places of employment are likely back to the grindstone. Of course, many of them will still enjoy a shortened work week, so it’s not all bad that Labor Day has passed. In fact, many people would say the arrival of September brings much-anticipated interest and excitement.
Many sporting activities have now begun (especially college and pro football). The kitchen will begin to produce new smells and flavors, and for lots of folks, new outdoor seasons of hiking, hunting, and fishing are soon to arrive. Though September is still a very warm month in the year, some folks will find it hard to not begin rotating the clothes in their closet. It feels like it’s time for the Fall, but underneath our most optimistic outlook, we know deep down that the summer of 2024 still has plenty of surprises ahead.
The unpredictability of each season is one major reason why the Chapel’s newsletter, “The Chapeline”, is such a good resource for communication. Through the Chapeline, we are able to provide you with details about upcoming events, potential ministry service opportunities, construction status, and fundraising results, as well as special announcements about both regular and special worship services at the Chapel. Even more importantly, we are able to provide you with details about how you can get involved with social, ministry, and service opportunities.
Make sure to read your Chapeline each week, especially on these shortened weeks! Even though it’s just September and our snowbirds haven’t begun to pack for their journeys back home, lots of things are taking place. In fact, if you are among those who live far distances away, you can still actively participate by checking your calendar and letting us know about your interest in attending or volunteering where you are able.
Keep in mind, even though you may be somewhere else, the planning and organizing for the Holiday Season has already begun and we want to make sure to include your involvement in the Chapel’s ministry, service, and social activities! Reservations are very helpful if you know you’ll be here for an event!
Tune in and watch the Chapel on Wednesdays (5:30 pm Bible Study Zoom) and Sundays (10:00 am Worship). Send your outreach donations to the Chapel via Amazon (this month is underwear) and don’t forget to check in with your friends and neighbors, especially those who may be struggling with health, relationships, or loneliness.
We are all family and none of us needs to ever feel alone…God and your Chapel are both here, there, and everywhere for you!
God Bless
Brock.
