“Two Prayers This Easter”
The Easter Season continues for several more weeks, for a total of 50 days. The reason the Christian Church continues to focus on Easter is that the miracle of the Resurrection is the foundation on which the Church is built. It’s important to keep this in mind as Summer quickly approaches. It’s easy to become so distracted that we forget who we are, and whose we are.
This week is a big week for at least two reasons: Our brothers and sisters of the Roman Catholic Church will be anxiously waiting for news of the election of the new Pope. If you’re first thought is, “I’m not Catholic”, please keep in mind that 1/8 of the world’s population is Roman Catholic. In addition, almost every other Church that exists (regardless of Faith) considers the Pope to be one of the (if not “The”) most important persons on earth. For this reason, along with all the other legitimate reasons, we should be keeping these moments high on our prayer lists.
A second reason this week is important is that this Sunday is Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day is an opportunity to show appreciation for all our mamas, whether biological or not, who care for our needs. From a spiritual perspective, this day is important because it allows us to consider all those whom we have called “Mama”. These women serve as some of God’s greatest blessings in our lives, so taking some time to reflect upon these blessings is helpful, indeed.
This week likely includes several other events that are important in our lives, but special prayers upon the conclave to elect the 267th Pope and this Mother’s Day are in order. God knows what the world needs, and these two prayer requests demonstrate, at the minimum, our humility before the LORD.
I hope to see you this week at the Chapel, online or in person. Pray on!
God Bless,
Brock
