“What Does It Mean To You?”
What does the Chapel represent to you?
Is it a place of worship? A place to serve? A place where you experience friendship and fellowship? Perhaps it is a regular stop on your calendar, or maybe you first discovered the Chapel through the Lord’s Warehouse, the Paradise Center, AA or Al Anon, a wedding, a memorial service, a Bible study, or another ministry.
Some people attend our Chapel because they live nearby. Others come because of family or friends. Some connect online. Still others find the Chapel through one of the many activities which take place on our campus. The wonderful thing is that every one of those connections matters!
The Chapel serves as common ground for people with many different stories and experiences. In our community, the church is often thought of as a building. In Scripture, however, the Church is the people whom God gathers together. The building simply provides a place where those relationships can grow.
Each of us arrives by a different path, yet united by God's love. I do not believe that is an accident. God has a remarkable way of drawing people together through many different doors. Some of those doors are carefully planned. Others seem to open unexpectedly. Either way, every connection becomes another opportunity for God to work in someone's life.
Our shared efforts at the Chapel following the storms of 2024 remind us of what can happen when people come together with a common purpose. We witnessed compassion, generosity, perseverance, and hope. Those same qualities continue to shape the Chapel every day, often in ways that go unnoticed.
This is God's Chapel. What a privilege it is that God has entrusted it to our care. We are called to be faithful stewards of this place, not only by maintaining the buildings and grounds, but by continuing to build God's Kingdom through worship, service, fellowship, and love.
This week, take a moment to thank God for the Chapel. For more than seventy years, it has been a place where lives have been changed, friendships have been formed, prayers have been answered, and hope has been renewed. May God continue to use this special place to bless Longboat Key, our surrounding communities, and people around the world for many years to come.
