“Something Is Going to Happen”

Something is coming down the road. Do not worry, the soothing light at the end of the tunnel is not a freight train coming our way. The light we see represents hope and a dream. It is the hope of being alive and the dream of a life filled with blessings.

This is the simple awareness that God is always at work for our good, and most of the time we simply need to step aside and allow God to be God. Like my best friend often says, “Something is going to happen today.”

She says it with complete optimism about the day ahead. It is the belief that we are equipped and prepared for whatever opportunities may come our way, even if we do not yet know what they are. It is a bit like preparing a child for the first day of school. We know they are ready to attend school before they do, and we understand that the first step is often the hardest one for both parent and child to take.

This is a beautiful picture of faith. There is still so much ahead of us that remains unknown. Even after many years of life, something good and meaningful still lies ahead. Each day is new, and each day is another opportunity to see what God is doing next.

That is why it is so important to keep looking forward. It keeps hope alive. It allows us to see that light at the end of the tunnel as a light of promise, a glimpse of a future that is greater than our current understanding.

Our Lenten theme this year is “Dream Again.” We are focusing on what lies ahead. This Sunday we will celebrate the Chapel’s seventieth birthday. We have a special worship service planned, followed by a time of fellowship and a meal together. We will celebrate the history of the Chapel, but we will also look ahead to the future God is preparing for us.

Do I know exactly what the future holds? No. So do not come expecting me to predict it. What I can do is continue to walk forward in faith, trusting that each step, though still a mystery to me, is already known and blessed by God. We’ve witnessed some great things, but even more is ahead.

Come join us at the Chapel this Sunday. If you are not able to be with us in person, please join us online at 10:00 am EST.

Something is going to happen!

God Bless, Brock.
