The Song of the Lord

October 26 Sunday Worship

10:00 a.m.

If we read the Exodus story of the children of Israel in the First Testament, we will find Miriam and the women singing and dancing, playing tambourines, singing the “Song of the Lord”, and rejoicing and giving testimony to God’s deliverance, freedom, and mercy towards the people.

“Sing to the Lord, the horse and rider he has thrown into the sea.” (Exodus 15:21)

Repeatedly, that theme of steadfast love and mercy is sung by other faithful followers of our tradition and holy stories.

There was David who gave us many of Psalms of Praise. Hezekiah, the prophet, sang a song of gratitude. Micah and Habakkuk picked up the song in poetry and singing making it theirs as well. Mother Mary and Hannah sang in anticipation of the good news. Then came Jesus, Paul, and many of the writers of the early believers in the church, blending their voices in chorus, praising and proclaiming a “Kingdom”, requiring of us to do justly, to love kindness, and walk humbly with God.” (Micah 6:8)

This service will be an opportunity for us to worship our God in Spirit and in Truth. Singing and proclaiming through word and story, the “Good News” that Christ is present, and loves us unconditionally at all times and in all places.

Please join Alyssa, Brian and special guest musicians on Sunday, October 26th, as we celebrate in song and story, God's abiding love!

Blessings,

Rev. Bill

Photos of the Week

We have a Bald eagle that is visiting us high up in the Garden treetops! We don't think she is making a nest though, just perching. If anyone knows where she may be nesting,

let us know!

Look up at the interior stairwell next time you are here. We have all our crosses previously displayed in the old Prayer Chapel now displayed on the wall! It really looks fantastic! Thank you to Mark Shrout for hanging them!

Another view of the crosses.

Thank you to Susan Schaefer for artistic placement.
