Holiday Schedule at The Chapel

Merry Christmas! I hope the Chapel is part of your plans in the days and weeks ahead.

May I share a few important updates with you?

Our Christmas Eve service begins at 5:00 pm and includes Holy Communion and candlelight. We will have a full orchestra, and live streaming will be available on our website and Facebook. I truly hope you will join us. It'll be worth the effort.

The Chapel office will be closed after Christmas Eve and will reopen on Monday, January 5. During that time, the staff will not be available to respond to calls, emails, or messages. They have worked incredibly hard this year and deserve a well-earned break. The Paradise Center will be open for a few days, but please check their schedule below. As a reminder, the Chapel office will be closed from December 24 through January 4, 2026.

We will gather for worship on Sunday, December 28, with everything fully scheduled. Do not skip the first Sunday of Christmas! It will be a good one, I promise.

Our New Year’s Eve party will be held on Wednesday, December 31, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Heavy appetizers will be provided, and you are invited to bring your own beverage. This event has become very popular on the island. John Rinnell will provide the music, so bring your dancing shoes!

If you plan to attend the New Year’s Eve party, please let us know. Signup sheets are available outside the Chapel sanctuary. If you are unable to register in person, feel free to email me and I will make sure you are counted. Reservations are not required, but knowing numbers helps us plan. You will also see information about our next Bible study beginning Wednesday, January 14. This ten-week study, titled Angels Among Us, will meet on Wednesdays at 10:00 am in person and at 5:30 pm, both in person and online. The online link will be published after January 1.

We need volunteers on January 4th after Worship to help take the Christmas in the Garden decorations to the upstairs storage room. We will have our usual “people chain” up the stairs and vehicles ready at the Pod to take the items across the parking lot to the stairway.

Charitable Outreach presents for January 2026

“Squeaky Clean”

We are collecting cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, bath

towels, wash clothes, and sample toiletries for Turning Points,

a one-stop center for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Longboat Island Chapel Food Drive

December is our annual food drive for Manatee County Food Bank.

Drop off non-perishable items in Shook Hall at the designated table or in the yellow barrels. December is our big food "push".

The barrels will always be available to drop off non-perishable food items in Shook Hall year-round.

Paradise Center!

The Paradise Center offers a support group for Parkinson's.

We have many folks coming back to the island this winter looking for equipment to borrow.

If you need or want to donate equipment, please let us know.

Office Hours: Mon-Thurs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This Service is FREE to anyone!

You do not need to be a member of the Chapel.

Please call the office at 941-383-6491 to schedule a drop-off or pick-up equipment at the Chapel.

We do not take in or carry hospital beds or oxygen equip.
