"Bad Traffic Leads to a Fortune Cookie"
Yesterday, my houseguests and I left our house en route to the airport in St. Pete. We left three hours early. Knowing that we wouldn’t have any traffic, it was plenty of time.
However, it began to rain. Anyone and everyone on the beaches cleared, and the traffic was at a standstill in just a few minutes. According to Google, the time to arrive at the airport was 1 hour and 45 minutes. Maybe we could still make it.
Nope. As we reached the outskirts of downtown Bradenton, it was obvious that we wouldn't arrive at the airport in time. We turned around. Flights were rebooked for the next couple of days, and I can enjoy them for a little bit longer.
My plans changed against my wishes. I wasn’t happy about it. I’m one of those people who despise being late, missing appointments, or not being where I’m supposed to be. I try to plan accordingly, and the vast majority of the time, I’m able to make it work.
However, when something uncontrolled enters (like traffic), I’ll struggle. Oh, I’m great in emergencies, and I can think clearly and quickly in chaos. But, when it comes to something as common as unplanned beach traffic and surprise rain, not so much.
Of course, God is still blessing it. Even if I’m not as calm and contained as I’d like, God is blessing the situation. For instance, God blessed me with additional time with loved ones and many laughs and smiles (and even my favorite Chinese takeout on the way home).
God doesn’t leave when it rains, and God doesn’t head the other direction when the traffic stacks up. God is right there, holding, protecting, and assuring us ‘til the storm passes by.
Thumbs up! Give God some thanks today for whatever the world brings! Rest assured, it’s much better than it appears, and it may lead to a fortune cookie!
God bless,
Brock
