“A Perfect Match”
As many of our friends have departed for the season, new folks have begun taking their places in the community. New faces and names are appearing around the island, some of whom we see every year, and others who are brand new to the area.
Though our local economy largely focuses on our seasonal residents, those who are now arriving may be even more important during the summer months. Why? Retail shops have reduced their hours. Many restaurants are only open in the evenings, and hotel resorts have scaled back staffing. The reason is obvious: overall business activity has slowed significantly.
We love our local business owners and understand their need to adjust during the quieter months of the year. We also recognize the importance of supporting our friends and neighbors who work so hard to keep this beautiful community thriving. This is where our summer guests become so important. The people now arriving will help sustain local shops, restaurants, and businesses until the busy season returns in the fall. Their presence matters more than they may realize.
Pay attention to the new faces around you. God calls us to be welcoming, encouraging, and gracious representatives of our community. A simple smile, a kind word, or a helpful gesture can make a lasting difference for someone who may be unfamiliar with the area.
In many ways, it is a perfect match. Our local businesses need support. Our guests need welcome and connection, and God calls us to help bring people together.
That sounds like a pretty good summer plan to me.
God Bless, Brock.
