I posted this verse last April not knowing how much my "own understanding" would be challenged. No doubt there may be more "leaning & acknowledging" in 2021.

April ALL of 2020-21

Yes, this chaplain has experienced all of the same changes you have this year, but I have also found that there are some CONSTANTS, things that have not changed in the world of Emergency Services.

We ALL still need connection with other people. Some of us thrive on connection, others are more introverted and need less, but we all need it. Our own wellness demands it and our jobs and service to the community require it. What has changed is HOW we connect. What new commitment can I make for 2021 to CONNECT with co-workers and clients in new ways?

I have been so encouraged by the people I work alongside who have expressed their appreciation for our chaplains. Just like your work, the work of the chaplain has become more difficult to accomplish. Having supportive words and actions from others has encouraged this chaplain.

It has certainly been proven to me that the things which build resilience do not change. They are not dependent on situation or circumstance. As a reminder, those things are:

Group Crisis Intervention & Assisting Individuals in Crisis (GRIN) is a certified training by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation being taught in the Tri-Cities this Spring by a CISM Approved Instructor.

This is a foundational class for Peer Support personnel, CISM teams, Chaplains, and more. It is designed for emergency services personnel and is applicable to your setting. The class is three days and provides a certificate for 27 contact hours.

Our programs need your involvement to survive. Our contracting agencies pitch in some financial support, but we need charitable giving from individuals, churches, and businesses to stay afloat. Our programs serve the entire community and we hope to involve the entire community in supporting Chaplain Services Network.
