In September, we announced our commitment to become Carbon Neutral by 2030. Since then, our sustainability team has been working hard to complete the first phase of our decarbonization plan, measuring and monitoring our emissions. Based on the data gathered, we are moving on to the second phase: improving our building’s envelope.
A couple of Chapman projects received attention for their sustainability efforts. Initially targeting LEED Silver, the Boston University Student Health Services project exceeded expectations by achieving a LEED-CI Gold Certification. The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association hosted a sold-out Pro Tour at the Southeast Land Trust Mathey Center for People and Nature.
Chapman employees and their family members pulled on their gloves and laced up their boots to pick up trash at the Charles River Watershed Associations Annual Charles River Clean Up. And for those of you heading to Denver, CO, later this month for Advancing Construction Decarbonization, be sure to sign up for our Senior Sustainability Manager John Hyde’s session, Simplifying Carbon Tracking to Make Better Decisions Across All Projects.
