Chapter 1: The Dogs We Serve
Still Waiting, Still Wonderful.
At Saving Grace, most dogs find their families within about 45 days.
Then there are dogs like Gidget.
Gidget has been waiting nearly seven months.
She arrived in March and, despite being one of the sweetest dogs on our farm, is still waiting for someone to choose her.
At 10 years old, Gidget is everything many adopters say they're looking for: friendly, intelligent, easy-going, and happiest when she's spending time with people. Whether she's enjoying a walk, spending time with volunteers, or participating in our Going Out Program, Gidget consistently shows us what a wonderful companion she can be.
The truth is that some adult and senior dogs simply wait longer. Sometimes it's their age. Sometimes it's their breed. Sometimes there is no obvious reason at all.
At Saving Grace, healthy adult dogs live on-site, where they spend their days socializing with other dogs, interacting with volunteers and potential adopters, and building the skills that help them succeed in a home. Working with more than 29 shelter partners across North Carolina, we carefully select dogs we believe will thrive in our unique environment and deserve a second chance.
We know Gidget's family is out there. They just haven't met her yet.
To help her find the home she deserves, Gidget's adoption fee has been waived for approved adopters who are current or previous Saving Grace adopters, volunteers, or hosts.
