The votes are in! New regional vice presidents elected

Congratulations to newly elected regional vice presidents who assumed their new positions on April 1 and will serve a three year term. Regional vice presidents participate on monthly or bi-monthly one hour conference calls of the IISE North American Operations Board (NAOB). They represent the region by identifying trends, issues, and opportunities with the region for the betterment of the industrial and systems engineering profession and IISE's aims. Their participation in identifying actions in support of IISE's strategy and tracking progress is very important to IISE as well as their support and connection between chapter members and IISE leadership.

As a leader, give people specific assignments - specific person for a specific task.

University of Miami chapter hosts Girl Scouts for Robot and Engineering Day

On February 23, the University of Miami chapter hosted Girl Scouts for a Robotics and Engineering Day.
The first part of the day consisted of exposing the young girls to videos about what a robot is and the variety of forms they take on, tasks they do, and more. The girls built a "robotic" hand using string, straws, and a paper plate to be able to make the hand look
like it is curling its fingers. They also had the opportunity to build a robot using Lego Boost and control it using an app on the iPhone.

The second part of the day was engineering activities which
included Gumdrops Dome, Gumball Rollercoaster, Popsicle Catapult, Engineering Matching, Lego Cars, Jenga, and Egg Drop, the girls' favorite activity.

Showing these girls the possibilities and topics surrounding Engineering was very rewarding for chapter members
