University chapters aimed for the stars - Silver and Bronze awards

As related in an article in LiveScience entitled "Are We Really All Made of Stars"Carl Sagan said, "We are made of star stuff". This is certainly true of the members of IISE university chapters who put in stellar performances in 2018-2019 and earned a SILVER or BRONZE Award.  The Chapter Recognition Program recognizes chapters' accomplishments. Point total on the 2018-2019 University Chapter Activity Report (UCAR) is the basis for the 2019 awards.

The North Central Regional Conference was electric!

Students from 10 universities in the North Central Region joined the University of Wisconsin-Madison university chapter in Madison, Wisconsin, for the IISE North Central Regional Conference.

The weekend's positive energy kicked off with a pizza social and the Vice-President of Supply Chain from Oshkosh Corporation as a guest speaker. Six different plant tours in the Madison area sparked attendee excitement.

Workshops on various topics such as data visualizaton, quick response manufacturing, and professional development stimulated students. Bringing the weekend to a close, Jessca Rannow was the closing speaker and attendees

enjoyed more networking over a delicious dinner.

Charged with hosting this conference, UW-Madison provided an outlet where university chapters could mingle, make connections with companies hiring IE's and learn more about the opportunities as IE's!

What a great conference!  Thanks, University of Wisconsin - Madison

University of Pittsburgh puts on phenomenal regional conference
In February, the University of Pittsburgh IISE Chapter was proud to welcome 150 students and 50 professionals from the Northeast region to its campus for the 2019 IISE Northeast Regional Conference where they presented Industrial Engineering: A Global Profession. This year's conference featured speaker sessions from professionals from companies like Disney, FedEx Ground, Calvin Klein, and Verizon. It also featured a career fair, fun student networking events, and a closing banquet at an elegant restaurant overlooking the Pittsburgh skyline. Co-chairs Matthew Hoge and Erin Bates as well as the rest of the planning committee were delighted with the outcome of the event and hope that the attendees both enjoyed and learned from their time spent in Pittsburgh.

The presentations were followed by a comprehensive bus tour of the airfield, the FedEx World Hub and the Tennessee Air National Guard base.

IISE launches its newest project: podcasting

"Problem Solved: The IISE Podcast" launched during the IISE Annual Conference & Expo 2019 in May. Its goal is to feature conversations with industrial and systems engineers about their work, ideas and solutions.

We also explore topics that are outside the traditional boxes for ISEs. The first 5 episodes are online, including our latest with David B. Reid, P.E., manager of production design at Chick-fil-A and a keynote speaker this fall at the IISE Engineering Lean and Six Sigma Conference 2019.

Join over 60 universities who have brought IISE training to campus!

As you and your fellow students are aware, you need every advantage you can get as you prepare to enter the job market. One such edge is a Six Sigma or Lean Green Belt certification from IISE, the only IISE endorsed and sanctioned program. We want to help you and your classmates earn that certificate. Our programs are accredited by IACET and the Six Sigma Green Belt is ISO 13053 compliant.
Our continuing education department has instituted a program through which we will come to your campus, usually on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and present the green belt training immediately followed by IISE's certification examination. (We use the certification exam in lieu of a project.) And we do this for students at a discount of over 60% off the regular IISE member prices (you can add a money amount to our fees to make money for your chapter). Last year alone we brought this program to over 60 universities. We would be delighted to bring this to or back to your campus.
