My fundraising friends,
December is truly a month of wrapping things up, whether it be presents, work projects or capping off another year of making a true impact in the world.
If we were to do an “AFPNS 2024 Wrapped”, you would see our chapter’s work in the IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility) space at the top. Our committee has been working hard to understand our members and their needs to incorporate into an IDEA pathway, kicking off with an IDEA survey. We can’t wait to see a full analysis of the results in the new year.
You would also see the letters MFC shine brightly, just as the Maritime Fundraising Conference did in September. It was a wonderful feeling to see the conference return and grow, full of new attendees and speakers. Spoiler: plans for the 2025 MFC are already under way!
In 2024, the AFPNS Board of Directors focused on the basics, to assure the foundation of our chapter was ready to move forward post-pandemic. Because of this work, in 2025 you will see many new faces and voices leading the way of our chapter. You will see the return of our professional development lunch ’n’ learns. Most importantly, we hope you see yourself in our organization.
At the end of December, I will also be wrapping – wrapping up my term as chapter president. It was an honour and one heck of an experience. Also wrapping up their terms with the AFPNS Board of Directors is Tracey Comeau and Past-President Whitney MacLean. We can’t thank you enough for all your service to make this chapter what it is today.
Incoming President Fiona Valverde is ready to steer the ship for the next year. Careful: her enthusiasm for fundraising and the non-profit sector is contagious!
May you shine brighter than ever in 2025.
All my best,
Alison
