February 2025

We asked. You shared. We listened. As promised, this issue includes the results of our IDEA Survey.

We hear you want more opportunities to provide feedback. That’s great because we welcome feedback! We’ve done two surveys, and will continue seeking your input this way. If surveys aren’t your thing, feel free to email us (AFPNovaScotia@gmail.com), or chat with us at events like our New Year’s Social. We’ll also keep creating more ways for you to share your thoughts.

We hear your need to enhance accessibility. We agree there is more we can do here and are taking action. We’re working on making our events, like our Maritime Fundraising Conference, more inclusive (interested in volunteering? See our call for volunteers). We’ll also continue to offer IDEA rates, bursaries, and free memberships – check below for details on applying or nominating someone.

We hear your desire for more professional development. We want that too. Expect to see more mentorship and educational events this year.

We hear you’re proud of our IDEA work. This warms my heart.

We hear you want more concise communication. Not my strong point but I’m working on it!

And in case you are wondering – yes that’s one of Anja’s quilts in the photo. My Valentine’s gift to myself and a way to celebrate Black Brilliance in our community during African Heritage Month!

Warmly,

Fiona
