PR Professional of the Year - Rachel Horst

Named after a chapter founding member, the Space Coast FPRA’s highest honor is presented to an active and committed FPRA member in recognition of the member’s contribution of time, energy, enthusiasm, and skill to the field of public relations. Horst is the Public Information Officer and Marketing Specialist for Brevard County Government. She has served in numerous roles on the chapter’s board. Most recently, she led the charge to increase chapter Image Award submissions both at the local and state level, and members have benefited from her leadership in this area. Horst is currently enrolled in Class VII of the LeadershipFPRA program. She is an exemplary FPRA member.

Communicator of the Year - Brightline

The Communicator of the Year Award is presented to a member or organization in the community who exhibited outstanding efforts throughout the year.

As the only provider of modern, eco-friendly, intercity rail in America, Brightline connects guests to congested city pairs that are too close to fly and too long to drive. The company currently serves Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach, with stations in Aventura and Boca Raton opening at the end of 2022 and its Orlando station beginning service in 2023. Brightline is being honored for its outstanding communications efforts in informing the Brevard County community at large about #OrlandoExtension construction advisories, test train operations, and passenger rail updates.

Rising Star - Carlee Mixon

The Rising Star Award is presented to FPRA members of fewer than three years who have made significant contributions to the chapter and are interested in or are already involved with the chapter board. They are also actively pursuing more leadership roles within the chapter. Mixon, a Senior Digital Marketing Specialist for Launch Credit Union, leads the Space Coast chapter’s communications efforts, taking them to new heights, and is also currently enrolled in the LeadershipFPRA program. She is a shining example of a leader on the rise.

Doris Fleischman Award - Samantha Senger, APR, CPRC

The Doris Fleischman Award is presented to a member who makes often unrecognized, behind-the-scenes contributions to the public relations profession and/or to FPRA. Senger has been a leader and mentor within the Space Coast chapter for a number of years and has been instrumental in members achieving their credential goals.
