Auction Spotlight: Question of the Week
Why does the PTSA raise money and where does it go?
Did you know that the Cherry Crest PTSA pays for nearly every event you can think of that gives our school its unique personality and far-reaching reputation for unwavering commitment to students and teachers?

The majority of the budget pays for assistants to improve student/teacher ratios in all classrooms and in the cafeteria and playground to support positive social interactions among the students.

Just over 20% of the budget pays for school-wide curriculum enhancement, which includes off-site field trips (e.g., theater, nature spaces, museums, etc.), on-site visits from a wide variety of children's educators (e.g., toy maker, author visits, animal encounters, etc.). Check the PTSA website for more information about enrichment events planned for your child this year!

Another 10% of funds pay for school-wide community-building events , such as movie nights, ice-cream socials, festival of cultures, and spelling bee, to name just a few.

The remaining 8% provides grants for staff and supports appreciation events and the PTSA operating costs (such as services to host our website, send our newsletter and responsibly manage our finances).

All of these programs are organized and run by a team of over 50 committed Cherry Crest parents who offer their time and energy on a 100% volunteer (unpaid) basis. Put this year's auction on your calendar and help keep it all going!

Rice Krispies Treat Sale Tomorrow
Fifth Grade students will sell Rice Krispies Treats for 50Β’ each at lunch recess on Wednesday. SHS saves the lives of thousands of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals in our area each year.

Want to support the cause, but don't want a treat? A donation jar is also available! It's a fun way for all students to join fifth graders in giving back to their community.
Cherry Crest Writing Challenge 2020
Cherry Crest Elementary students are invited to participate in the 2020 Writing Challenge. The theme for this year’s writing challenge is "School. " Share your story to connect us to the past, present and future of our school!

All stories will be displayed at the Cherry Crest Art Walk (Friday, March 27), at the 30-year Time Capsule Ceremony (Friday, April 3) and published in a bound collection available for purchase at the Spring Auction.

5th Graders Sponsor Kindness Challenge in February
Cherry Crest is taking part in the Camp Kindness Counts Challenge during the month of February by showing kindness within and beyond our Cherry Crest Comm(UNITY).

5th graders have voted for us all to share smiles and high fives on our Kindness Day, Wednesday, February 12 and chose Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) as the community charity our school will support.

A donation box will be set up in the lobby to collect items on the RASKC wish list .
