The Curriculum Enhancement (CE) program has been keeping our students active and engaged! During November and December our students experienced field trips and enrichment opportunities funded by the PTSA including:

  • Kindergarten students had a visit from the Toy Maker and learned about “Wood and Paper.”
  • 1st grade students also had a visit from the Toy Maker and learned about “Air and Water”, as well as a visit from Kids Quest Museum presenting their NW Animal Life program.
  • 4th grade students had a field trip and learned about Waste Water from Nature Vision.
  • 4th and 5th grades took a field trip to MOHAI (Museum of History and Industry) in Seattle.
  • 5th grade students had a speaker visit to learn about Internet Safety.

Upcoming for January and February
  • Kindergarten students will take a field trip to the Storybook Theater for a performance of “Little Red."
  • 1st grade students will take a field trip to the Village Theater for a performance of “Snowy Day.”
  • 2nd and 4th grade students will have a visit from the Toy Maker.

All of these activities, and many more yet to come this year, are funded by the Cherry Crest PTSA through the Walkathon, Auction, and Read-a-thon. Thank you for your continued support!

5th Grade Fundraiser: Rice Krispies Treat Sale is Wednesday
Fifth Grade students will sell Rice Krispies Treats for 50¢ each at lunch recess on Wednesday, January 8th. This is one of several fundraisers our fifth graders run to support their chosen charity: Seattle Humane Society . SHS saves the lives of thousands of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals in our area each year.

Want to support the cause, but don't want a treat? A donation jar is also available! It's a fun way for all students to join fifth graders in giving back to their community.
Staff Appreciation for January: Fourth Grade Families
Each year Cherry Crest families show their appreciation for our outstanding teachers and staff by volunteering to provide food, beverages and paper products throughout the school year. Each Grade level is assigned one month to focus their efforts and many items can be delivered by your child.

Parents of Fourth Grade students: This is your month! Sign up now to participate. Thank you in advance for your contributions. Together we strengthen our community!
