Varsity Baseball Headed to 1A State Tournament 

The Chargers Varsity Baseball team has qualified for the 1A State Baseball Tournament as the #13 seed.  We will play #4 Superior HS at 6:30pm on Friday, May 3rd. The two teams split the regular season meetings, with the Chargers defeating then #2 Superior 7-6 last week.

The AIA does charge admission for all State Tournament games. AIA Passes are accepted.
State Tournament All Rounds:
$10.00 Adults
$5.00 Students with High School ID, Active Military and Senior Citizens (62 and over)
Children five and under admitted free

With a win, the Chargers would then play a Quarterfinal game on Saturday 5/4 at 11am at REDS field #4, back at the  Goodyear Baseball Complex. They would take on the winner of #5 Williams and #12 Joseph City.

Charger Track and Field Athletes Headed to States:

The AIA has released their preliminary qualifiers for the 2019 State Track and Field Championships. The State meet will take place Friday 5/3 and Saturday 5/4 at Mesa Community College. A few of the Chargers top seeds include Adam Whitehead, who will defend his 3200 state title from last year. He will also feature in the 800, 1600, and as a member of the boys 3rd seeded 4x400 relay. Chase Hampton earne the 6 seed in the boy 400, and Lillie Whitehead goes into the Disucs throw ranked 9th. The following Chargers have qualified for the state meet (Rank, Name, Grade):

Advanced Archery Competes in Nationals, 
Featured on Fox 10!

Members of Arete Prep's Advanced Archery team traveled to Salt Lake City. Utah over the weekend, to compete in the NASP National competition. Initial results have the Chargers placing 9th as a team. That puts them on the fence for worlds. They will wait until completion of the eastern nationals to see if they qualified for worlds. Arete Prep will also wait to see if any individual qualifiers will head to worlds. Jared Phillips shot the high score for the Chargers.Great job Archers! 

Fox 10 recently came out to the Arete Campus to film a "Ty-pad" segment with Ty Brennan. Ty interviewed a few archers, as well as Coach Portillo. He also got a quick lesson and took aim himself! The segment aired live Sunday 4/21, but you can check out both the tease, and segment at the links below!

Join Us For Spring Sports Awards on 5/15!

Arete Prep Athletics will host Spring Sports Awards on May 15th, 2019, in the Marley Gymnasium. We hope you can join us and celebrate our spring student athletes, coaches, and teams! Dress for student athletes is formal.

The boys 4 x 4 relay team ran the 2nd fastest time in school history at the last chance meet last Wednesday. This earned them the #3 ranking as they head to the AIA DIV State meet prelims on Friday at Mesa CC. Great job Chargers!

You may now visit East Valley Sports (6306 East Main Street, Mesa, 85205) to inquire about ordering an Arete Prep Varsity Jacket. We have redesigned the Varsity Letter that was distributed at Fall Sports Awards. IF YOU ARE ORDERING A JACKET, please contact Coach Conklin to receive the new letter. Please keep in mind that jackets take 7-8 weeks for production. We are very excited to see school pride represented in Varsity Jackets around campus! Jackets are dress code approved but may only be worn by the owner.

1. Complete the Athletic Online Enrollment. (Must be completed by a parent/guardian.) 

2. Every athlete must submit a physical on the approved AIA Physical Forms. Physicals are good for 12 months and must be resubmitted annually. 

3. Submit the athletic fee. All middle school sports (including archery) are $250. All high school sports are $290. Select Online Payment to pay by debit/credit card online, or you may submit cash, check, or money to the front office. 

4. (HS ONLY) If not previously completed, every high school athlete must complete the Brainbook Concussion Course. The AIA will notify Arete electronically once the student has successfully completed the course. High school athletes are required to complete this course only once during their high school career. 

All items must be completed and turned in before your student may participate in their sport.
