Cross Country Runs at Nike Desert Twilight

Friday night, Arete Prep Cross Country competed at the famous Nike Desert Twilight Races at Grande Sports World in Case Grande.  Most Arete runners competed in the 5,000m Small School Open Race. Wes Lanniuer shined for the boys, placing 2nd out of 382 runners. Wes crossed in a PR of 17:52. What an impressive race for the Charger Junior! Junior Logan Hansen also ran an impressive race, coming in at 19:08, good enough for 24th place. Daniela Iniguez was the top female finisher for the Chargers, placing 14th with a 20:02. Grace Stoops (21st) and Sara Tollen (23rd) finished just behind Iniguez.

Adam Whitehead ran in one of the night's biggest races, the 5,000 sweepstakes permiere race. It featured some of the top runners in both the region, and country. Leo Daschbach from Highland HS won the race, in a blazing 14:14. Whitehead PR'd with a 15:39, placing him a very respectable 35th out of 220 runners. The premiere race featured runners across all divisions. Great race Adam!

Football Picks Up Big 72-48 Road Win at NFL YET
After two close region losses to Superior and Hayden, Arete Prep bounced back with an important 72-48 win at NFL YET. He added a defensive interception at Safety, his 3rd INT of the season. 6 of McClellands completions went to Sophomore Jack Bellomy, who racked up 148 yards receiving. Sophomore Joe Connelly found the endzone twice, while Senior WR Lincoln Langkilde reeled in 3 catches for 47 yards and a TD. Chris Morrison stood out on the defensive side of the ball, finishing with two INT's, 7 tackles, and 2 tackles for a loss. Senior Linebacker Jakob Smedegaard added 6 tackles, 3 of which were solo.
Next up for the Chargers, is a trip to Ray HS this Friday (10/4) for another big region matchup with the Bearcats.
