Welcome to Charity in Motion
Welcome to the inaugural issue of Charity in Motion ! This digital newsletter has been designed to keep friends of the Sisters of Charity Community connected to the mission and ministries of the SCs, and to the many ways the SC charism continues to reach out today. The newsletter will be sent digitally four times a year and will include feature articles, photos and video, news and notes, and event information! After months of planning and looking at the needs of our ever-changing world, we saw the importance in creating a publication that is easily accessible in our digital society. We ask that you share this newsletter with friends and family members that would like to hear from us – former students, alumni and employees of our sponsored ministries, or colleagues and dear friends of our Sisters. The Charity charism is alive and ever present! We look forward to bringing you this new publication and the many ways to experience Charity in Motion !

A special thank you to SC Associate Cathy Palmer, who provided the name for this new publication.

LCWR Hosts Annual Assembly

Members of the Sisters of Charity Leadership Team convened for the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) annual assembly in August. The assembly opened with an inspiring introduction of the theme, “Being the Presence of Love: The Power of Communion.” About 800 congregational leaders representing the 48,500 women religious in the United States were present. On its final day, members reaffirmed their commitment to end racism by walking to the steps of St. Louis’ Old Courthouse where Dredd Scott sued for his freedom in 1846. They stood in silent prayer to remember victims of racism and to pray for its systemic elimination throughout the country and the world.
