Charles Braithwait

It is with great sadness that we must report to Missouri's Community Action Network that Charles Braithwait passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014.

Charles Braithwait began his career at West Central Missouri Community Action Agency in Appleton City and was one of Community Action's strongest and best advocates. He was one of the Missouri Community Action leaders who saw the need for a statewide association, resulting in the founding of the Missouri Association for Community Action.

Charles Braithwait was one of the founders of the National Community Action Foundation, and was appointed by President Gerald Ford to the Commission for Economic Development. He provided strong leadership in our field throughout his long career and continued well after retirement to participate and encourage others in their commitment to Community Action.

Although his health in recent years has limited his ability to travel and engage in activities with Missouri's Community Action Network, he did attend last year's Annual Conference.   We have all reaped the benefit of Charles Braithwait's desire to accomplish change in our state and across the nation.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30th from 5pm to 9pm at the Assembly of God Auditorium in Osceola, Missouri.

The funeral services will be Friday, October 31, at 1pm also at the Assembly of God Auditorium. The interment will occur at Wright's Creek Cemetery in Lowry City, Missouri.

The Braithwait family will be hosting a reception following the interment at their home, located at 5855 NE Highway C, Lowry City.

Our deepest condolences to Sandra Braithwait and the entire Braithwait family. We invite you to leave your thoughts for his family at the on-line visitor's page at the Sheldon - Goodrich Funeral Home.

It is also the wish of the Braithwait family that any memorials or donations be made to the Old Lowry City School Restoration Project or the National Community Action Foundation in care of the funeral home.
