Being Seen and Heard
Mack will be making an appearance at this year's Four State Comic-Con in Hagerstown, Maryland, and the voices of people experiencing homelessness will be heard. Jason Seaux and Pat LaMarche will be featured in a panel discussion beginning at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 30 where they will discuss the inspiration for Invisible, including the men and women who serve our country and the problems of homelessness that plagues our nation. City of Suffrage
Women's History Month may have passed, but The Charles Bruce Foundation is proud to partner up with the Cumberland County Historical Society and a coalition of community partners to present Beyond Suffrage: Reclaiming the Future. The forum will bring together leaders and members of the community to listen, learn and discuss important issues that impact the economic security of women. The evening will feature two sessions - one on Social Bias and Barriers and one on Workplace Challenges Magnified (to include the effects of the pandemic on women).

The objective is to compile community feedback from the evening in a white paper which will be presented to our Pennsylvania legislators as they consider several bills that will impact women’s economic security, including equal pay, paid leave, and the minimum wage.

The event will also feature the creation of an Equity Quilt. Participants will be given a fabric square and asked to depict examples of how they have experienced inequities in their lives that have hindered them from economic success. Volunteers will sew them together into a quilt which will also be presented to legislators at the Capitol. Join in this important forum by clicking the link below to secure your free tickets.

Live Music Returns
One of the key consequences of the pandemic has been a lack of live music events. Finally, we are pleased to announce that The Charles Bruce Foundation is bringing live music back to Bosler Library on May 27. Carlisle band, Pyxus, perform self-composed music in their own style of New Folk/Americana with Jake Myers on guitar and vocals and brother Robert on mandolin and vocals. The band has performed at venues all over Western North Carolina and up into Virginia and Central Pennsylvania. This concert is free and open to the public. Bosler Memorial Library is located at 158 W. High Street in Carlisle.

Last year, Pyxus was nominated for a CPMA (Central Pennsylvania Music Award), and Robert won the Adult Mandolin Competition at the Berlin Fiddler’s Convention in Maryland.

Bluegrass Today said of the band, “Their sound transcends the boundaries between bluegrass, folk, and improvisational music, and though they are the only two players involved, their self-titled debut EP offers a remarkable example of ample instrumental ability.”
