One of the key consequences of the pandemic has been a lack of live music events. Finally, we are pleased to announce that The Charles Bruce Foundation is bringing live music back to Bosler Library on May 27. Carlisle band, Pyxus, perform self-composed music in their own style of New Folk/Americana with Jake Myers on guitar and vocals and brother Robert on mandolin and vocals. The band has performed at venues all over Western North Carolina and up into Virginia and Central Pennsylvania. This concert is free and open to the public. Bosler Memorial Library is located at 158 W. High Street in Carlisle.
Last year, Pyxus was nominated for a CPMA (Central Pennsylvania Music Award), and Robert won the Adult Mandolin Competition at the Berlin Fiddler’s Convention in Maryland.
Bluegrass Today said of the band, “Their sound transcends the boundaries between bluegrass, folk, and improvisational music, and though they are the only two players involved, their self-titled debut EP offers a remarkable example of ample instrumental ability.”
