The Elephant's in the Room
Those of you who are familiar with the Charles Bruce Foundation's book offerings will remember If You Should Meet an Elephant, the adaptation of an old nursery rhyme brought to a modern audience with a clever rhythmic prose written by Ashley Kauffman and stunningly adorable illustrations by Bonnie Tweedy Shaw. Because every great book deserves a sequel, the pair have reunited to bring us If You Could Feed an Elephant. Although you will need to wait for the springtime release of the book, you can get a preview of some of Bonnie's artwork by attending her exhibition highlighted in the final article of this newsletter.
Kursid Kookies
The promotion of one of the latest offerings from the Charles Bruce Foundation, Kursid Kids, is in full swing with Aron Rook conducting a book signing at Whistlestop Bookshop on January 14...If you missed the opportunity to get your book signed in January, you have another opportunity to have Aron sign your book on February 11, 2023 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm at History on High - The Shop, 33 W High St, Carlisle, PA 17013. You may even get to nibble on a Kursid Kookie based on the book's leading character, Dr. Marmalade and made, not surprisingly, with marmalade filling. Need a romantic treat this Valentine's day? Intrepid and prolific children's book illustrator, Bonnie Tweedy Shaw, famed for her work on several Charles Bruce Foundation books (Pat LaMarche's Priscilla books and Ashley Kauffman's elephant books), will show her love of all things adorable with a Valentine's presentation of her artwork. Stop by and meet Bonnie, chat about the importance of art in children's literature, grab a nosh & beverage, and consider adding one of her lovely pieces to your personal collection. We will even sweeten the deal by conducting a drawing for Priscilla books. The exhibition begins February 14th at 5:00 pm at Carlisle Arts Learning Center, 38 W Pomfret St, Carlisle, PA 17013.
