June News
It's Summertime
In the continuing saga, readers have now been led through three seasons in the life of the homeless heroine, Priscilla. The book's author, Pat LaMarche, and illustrator, Bonnie Tweedy Shaw, recently joined up for a combination book signing of Priscilla and the Bishop's Gambit, at everyone's favorite, Whistlestop Bookshop at 129 W. High St, Carlisle PA. In the meantime, Pat and Bonnie work feverishly to bring Priscilla's full story to a close, highlighting homelessness in the summer. We expect to see the fruits of this labor in November. While you wait, catch up on all of Priscilla's progress by ordering your own copies from Whistlestop Bookshop using the link below.
Returned to Dust
When two distinguished authors on homelessness, Diane Nilan, author of Dismazed and Driven, and Pat LaMarche, author of Still Left Out in America, make like the Joad family and set out through the dustbowl states of America to bring attention to the homeless crisis, you know it deserves undivided attention. In their noted tours of the past, the pair have taken their message of kindness across the country, educating their listeners about the challenges within homeless communities and the actions concerned people can take to reduce the hardships. Due to the ravages of Covid-19, the pair have not been on the road together since the California Dreamin' Nightmare tour in 2019. This tour grew from an electric presentation they gave at the National Organization of Women conference in July 2018 entitled Homelessness is a Feminist Issue.

We encourage you to use this unique opportunity to take in a stop along the tour if you happen to be within one of the targeted locations. If you aren't near a tour stop, share the news with friends and loved ones who might benefit. For specific dates, times, and locations of this year's Babes of Wrath tour, please contact Diane using the link below. Even better, if you know of a location near their projected route that might be willing to host the pair, you can email Diane using this very same link!
A Special Note of Condolence
While writing this, the sad news arrived of the passing of former United States Senator, Mike Gravel. I won't take up room in this newsletter to mark all of the great accomplishments of this incredible statesman, but I will point out the amazing coincidence of Sen. Gravel graciously giving of his time to be interviewed by The Babes of Wrath during their time at the National Organization of Women conference in July 2018. To learn even more of Sen. Gravel's important views, be sure to order his latest book using the link below.
Baseball Fiends
This month, I think it is worthwhile to let the words of Chad Bruce, from his latest Kickstarter post, tell the tale of the latest Invisible news. Apologies if you already track all of the updates on the Kickstarter website. As a consolation, if you do follow Kickstarter, here is a bonus taste of the great artwork being done by illustrator, Jason Seaux:

Hey there! It's all getting pretty exciting. This book has one heck of an up to bat, a wind up, and a pitch! We got the up to bat (our hero is a homeless veteran). We got the wind up (however did he get his magic powers - his invisibility?). And then the pitch (what does our hero do with his powers that makes this comic rock right off the pages!).

Jason and I are done drawing and coloring this all the way to the pitch... and getting ready to set this book right across home plate.

Why am I using a ridiculous baseball analogy? I have no idea. But I'm letting you know that we are cruising along and we'll be updating more regularly as we head toward home.

We hope you've been getting to see your loved ones and enjoy the world a little more as venues open up and families have gatherings.

Thanks for your support and your patience as this process has unfolded.

Cheers, Chad!
