Charlotte Arts and member events were cancelled because of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) on March 23. Some member organizations cancelled their events and hours of operation for the season and others are now re-opening. If you wish to confirm the status of any event or organization, please contact the event host.
If you wish to have information included in the next issue or would like to provide art that provides a moment of joy, please provide it by following the "Submit" button.

Summer Camps
July 13 to 17 and 20 to 24, 9 a.m. to Noon
Shows: Friday and Saturday, July 24 and 25. CDC guidance will be followed.
Community Life Church

Students in grades 3 to 6 will work with the older students (grades 7 to 12) on Annie Jr. Camp. The number of students is limited. Applications will be accepted after July 8. Learn more or call 941-255-1022 with questions. Cost.

Every Tuesday in July, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A special four-week pottery studio for Teens (ages 13-18) to learn pottery techniques and the pottery wheel with Steve Strunk. Space is limited to 6 students.
For students in grades 4 to 12 with access to the Internet and required equipment.
Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, July 13 to 31

This summer camp allows students to remain sate and heathy at home but still be social, creative, and engaged with a musical instrument. Three one-hour group lessons each week with an instrument of choice, including: Brass (Euphonium, French Horn, Trombone), Guitar/Ukulele, Piano (requires access to a piano or full-sized keyboard), Strings (Violin), or Woodwinds (Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone).
Students can expect to add and strengthen their instrumental skills, increase musicianship through the guidance of professional musicians, and have fun working with their peers and instructor! Cost: $50 plus cost to borrow an instrument if needed.

Free art exhibits by visual artists at locations throughout the county. Art changes as often as six times a year. Two locations are now open!

A paint-out will be held once in July, August, and September. RSVP to if you are interested or would like to suggest a location.

Anyone with a desire to paint outside may join us Monday at 8:30 a.m. There are no fees and no instruction. For those who wish, at 11:15 a.m. paintings are shared and discussed. This group meets at different locations.

Open Studios for 2D Art and Pottery
Every Monday and Thursday through July, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
There is no professional instruction, just use of the facilities for up to six artists on any day with a VAC Open Studio Coordinator. Cost. Visit the website for more details and to register.

Two difficult, single people, Phyllis and Bradley, get their luggage mixed up at the airport. After a disagreeable first encounter, they form a friendship that eventually leads to the two discovering they are perfect for each other. Cost.
The non-profit organization, dedicated to preserving and promoting jazz music, has cancelled their events and will reschedule their 30th anniversary dinner celebration from Oct. 24 to a later date. With the current uncertainty, the Board of Directors is considering a courtesy extension on memberships.

Lifelong Learning at Florida SouthWestern State College
With a heavy heart, the Board of Directors approved to dissolve the nonprofit organization whose mission was to foster interest in continuing education among adults, to offer quality classes and programs in a campus atmosphere in the arts, humanities, natural sciences, personal finance and technology as well as providing a variety of educational opportunities outside the classroom.
