Set in the deep South, in 1948, prior to the civil rights movement. A rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow has her driving privileges taken away by her son after she demolishes another car. He hires Hoke, a thoughtful black man to be her chauffeur. Over a span of twenty five years, despite their differences, the two grow to be close friends and realize they have more in common than they ever believed possible. Cost: $22.

This production is a spellbinding enactment of the best loved pop group in the history of modern music. The group has toured around the world portraying the musical icons of the four young lads from Liverpool, transporting its audience to a bygone era of magical innocence. Proceeds from this benefit concert will support The Charlotte Chorale's mission of bringing quality choral music to Charlotte County. Mixing & Understanding Color in Painting with David Petrelle
Every Tuesday, Jan. 21 to Feb. 4
The object of this class is to teach how to mix color and understand it. When you paint you also have to understand black and with values and all the tones in-between. Most people have trouble mixing color as beginners. They must learn the difference; how the eye mixes color, how each of us sees color, how color can change in different light and how it relates to its application in art. By understanding this they could isolate what colors they need to purchase to paint and how they can set up their palate which saves them money in the long run. Drawing All Beginner Levels with Pam Cox
Every Wednesday, Jan. 22 to March 11
This introduction to some basic drawing techniques using charcoal and pencils will include many exercises to push our eyes to see shape, how light falls across the surface to create values and how to capture that on paper. The class focuses mostly on drawing with charcoal and pencil, with one excursion into using pen and ink. Lessons include: intro to your drawing tools, how to use your tools to make values, how to capture curves and make a symmetrical form, lesson in scaling up, and intro to perspective. Bead Stitching Crystal Spiral Bracelet with Susan Davis
Thursday, Jan. 23, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Learn how to sew crystals and beads together to make a beautiful bracelet. Susan has 12 years of teaching experience and was the previous owner of a bead store. Clay Winter Wind Chimes with Pam Cox
Thursday, Jan. 23, 1 to 4 p.m.
Create a wind chime in terracotta clay. This fun workshop is great for beginners wanting their first experience in clay, or just a fun time making something for those that know a little more. Students will design a wind chime, and then build it using clay. The wind chime can be either simple or complex. No extra tools are needed, but if you have tools you’d like to use, you are welcome to bring them. Cost for class #WS-0156: $30 Cultural Center members, $33 others. An $8 clay and firing fee is payable to the instructor the day of the workshop.
Needle Felted Florida Tropical Scene with Nancy Walden

Have fun making a Florida Tropic scene using the Needle Felting technique which will be mounted in class on a prepared and painted board. This is a fun workshop to take with a friend. Open Studio All Mediums All Levels with Donna Birchfield

Paint Pour Adventures: Abstract Flower with Pam Schmidt

This advanced level workshop is for those who taken the prerequisite basic workshop Acrylic Paint Pour, also known as Fluid Art. Students will learn some Abstract Flower 3different techniques in this hands-on workshop to make an abstract flower. Come on the adventure known as Acrylic Paint Pouring, the techniques that are taking the world by storm. You will quickly become addicted to this art form and amazed at the beautiful abstract flower that you will create. This is the ultimate in controlled chaos, and you never have to pick up a brush. Your hands and the paint will do all the work. You will learn the different techniques and also learn how to manipulate the canvas to alter the flow and shape of your artwork to make the abstract flower. The Age of the Great Cathedrals
