Geometry not only plays a fundamental role in art, architecture, biology, and physics, but also offers a source of beauty, wonderment, and fun. Contemporary Economic Issues
Every Thursday, Jan. 9 to Feb. 13, 1 to 3 p.m.
These classes will examine stabilization policies and economic growth in a world of extraordinary low interest rates. We will examine capacity constraints on growth and contrast those with demand shortfalls emphasized by Keynes. Monetary policy issues will be integrated with fiscal choices. A major shift in U.S. trade policy has implications for growth, monetary policy, and exchange rates. Cost: $90, $80 Friends members.

David Morris, the Consumer Advocate for the SUN Newspapers will describe how to be a better protected consumer. Watercolor All Levels with Skip Mattie

Put down the brushes and come on the adventure Learn the basics of Acrylic Paint Pouring, also known as Fluid Art. This fun class is completely hands-on from mixing your own paints to flipping your own cups. You will quickly become addicted to this art form and amazed at the beautiful abstract painting that you will create with your very first canvas. Learn the proper way of mixing your paints, loading your cups for the perfect pour, and how to manipulate the canvas to alter the flow and shape of your artwork. Intro to Alcohol Ink Art with Rosana Halprine

Learn about the materials and supplies used in alcohol ink art. The instructor will demonstrate various techniques and the students will practice on scrap photograph or yupo paper. Pine Needle Baskets Workshop with Kathryn Erickson

If you can sew, you can learn how to form pine needles into a piece of art. Learn to coil pine needles and finish basket on your own. Nothing but patience is needed! Cost: $90 members, $100.
Punta Gorda Quickdraw

This is a fun and friendly competition where artists have three-and-a-half hours to depict picturesque historical Punta Gorda in the 2D medium of their choice. Registration is limited to 50 artists on a first come, first served basis. Cost: $5 per work.
Dan Graziano Master Workshop - Plein Air Painting
Friday to Sunday, Jan. 19 to 21, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Paint outdoors from life (en plein air) and learn basic art fundamentals of color, temperature, value, edges and more from the master. Dan Graziano is an award winning, nationally exhibited artist. Demonstration and one-on-one instruction. Cost: $500, $450 VAC members.

Join the 2020 NAE judge to learn soft pastel techniques. Cost: $342 members, $380.
Alcohol Ink Workshop with Jill Lindsay
Advanced: Feb. 17 and 18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Beginner and Intermediate: March 30 to April 1, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Learn how to create both abstract and realistic pieces with a unique and versatile medium. Cost: $315 members, $350.
