The season opener demonstrates how lies and deceit can turn a relaxing weekend away into a catastrophe, with multiple alleged affairs, cooks and cooks, mistresses, miscommunication and bribery. Director Ken Crisp says the cast can hardly make it through a rehearsal without breaking up.
Tickets are $22, $11 students.

Lemon Bay Playhouse, 96 West Dearborn Street, Englewood
The day after their friend Catherine’s funeral, Margot, Tate, and Connie gather for a round of golf in honor of their recently departed fourth. At the golf course they are joined by another woman, an old friend of Catherine’s they’d never met. Over the course of 18 holes, secrets and confessions unravel as the women discuss love, sex, children, and everything in between. Cost: $23, $14 students.

The Bitcoin Gospel is a fascinating look at the effort to allow everyday citizens to bypass the financial industry and become their own bank. The new digital currency held the promise of a world without the constrictions of currency exchange or conversion. But working outside the banking industry comes at a price. Has the use of Bitcoin inspired exactly the sort of elitist society the system was devised to defeat? The Bitcoin Gospel covers these issues and more in even-handed fashion.

Anyone with a desire to paint outside may join us any Monday October to May. There are no fees and no instruction. For those who wish, at 11 a.m. paintings are shared and discussed. This group will meet at a different location each week.

Introduction to Quilling with Carol Berntsson
Monday, Sept. 16, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This beautiful old art form of paper sculpture can be mastered easily following the basic technique and using the materials provided in this introductory workshop. Instruction and materials will enable students to create lovely accents, ornaments, and three-dimensional pictures to enhance gifts and cards. Cost for Class #WS-0916: $35/$38.

Mixed Media All Levels with David Petrelle
Every Monday, Sept. 23 to Oct. 28, 9 a.m. to Noon
This class helps people create their own artwork with acrylic, oil, pen and ink, pencil or watercolor media. Each student will bring in the desired reference photos and endeavor to create a unique piece of artwork using his/her chosen medium. Since this is not a step-by-step instruction class, the student should be familiar with their chosen medium. The student will furnish their own supplies and can contact the instructor if any questions. If new to mixed media, we will be experimenting with relief painting with fast mache’ and Liquitex Super Heavy Gel. Cost for class #302: $77 members, $85.

Open Studio-All Levels and All Mediums with Donna Birchfield
Every Tuesday, Sept. 24 to Oct. 15, 9 a.m. to Noon
All media – oil, acrylics, soft and oil pastels, watercolor, pen and ink, colored pencils and drawing – and all levels of instruction provided. Beginners or students interested in getting back to painting would enjoy this class. Cost for class #335-1: $56 members, $64.

Lapidary-Cutting Stones with Tony Poliseno
Every Tuesday, Sept. 24 to Oct. 15, 6 to 8 p.m.
This class teaches the cutting of natural stones, including preparation of faceting stones into angles and shapes and into sparkling, polished gems for jewelry. Cost for class #702-1: $61 members, $69.

Acrylic Painting-Beginner Level with David Petrelle
Every Wednesday, Sept. 25 to Oct. 30, 1 to 4 p.m.
How to pick what to paint, Composition, Subject matter, including Landscapes, Still life, People, Seascapes, Decorative, Non-objective art, Realism, and other forms of expressional art. How to achieve your objectives by learning the technical ability in each media. Learn how to apply your personal expression into your work. Cost of class #314-1: $77 members, $85.

Pottery-Hand building with Pam Cox
Every Wednesday, Sept. 25 to Nov. 13, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
This class will serve as an introduction to clay hand building techniques, covering pinch pots, solid build up, coiling, and slab construction. Cost for class #715: $112 members, $120.

Clay Fish Wall Hanging with Pam Cox
Thursday, Sept. 26, 1 to 4 p.m.
This is a swimmingly fun workshop where we will make a terracotta clay fish or whatever you may desire which will be appropriate to hang on your garden wall or interior space. This is a great workshop for the beginner or the more experienced. Techniques will be shown on how to cut, mold, and texturize your creation. No extra tools are needed, but if you have tools you may bring them. Cost for class #WS-0926: $38 members, $41.

Join our art and wine evening adventure! The session begins with a glass of wine and ends with a finished painting - a new scene each month. Creative, entertaining and memorable! Cost: $40 includes paints, canvas, wine and snacks.

Color Theory with Mike Grecian
Beginner: Wednesday, Oct. 16, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Advanced: Thursday, Oct. 17, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Participants take home a myriad of new ideas and free product samples to continue working at home. A few hours with Mike will provide inspiration for your next projects as well as a fun time with fellow artists. Cost: $120, $100 non-members.

Etched Wine Glasses with Belinda Duclos
Wednesday, Oct. 23, 6 p.m.
Create a set of playfully etched wine glasses that make great gifts. Cost: $40 includes 4 wine glasses and etching supplies.



Three-hour art classes for four or more students. Students provide their own materials, although I do help out beginners until they learn what materials they need.
Cost: $15.
