Our annual Learn to Ski trip is perennially the most popular trip on our winter schedule. The Charlotte Breezers have been introducing new Skiers and Riders to the slopes for more than 15 years.

Ask many minority enthusiast in the Carolinas where they learned and the likely answer is with us! 

 

 

This year the tradition continues, with a new twist! We'll be traveling to Winterplace Ski Resort in West Virginia. After a day of learning, practicing and making many new friends, we'll head back to Charlotte with a stop for dinner on the way back. This is an excellent opportunity for novices to learn and for experienced skiers and riders, especially our current club members to join us, mentor and allow someone else do the driving!

 

  

WHEN AND WHERE DOES THE TRIP DEPART?

We'll meet at 5:00 a.m. in the Target Northlake Mall parking lot to load the bus. The bus departs Charlotte at 5:30 a.m.

 

WHEN WILL WE ARRIVE BACK IN CHARLOTTE?

We'll leave the mountain area between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m., stop on the way back for dinner and arrive back in Charlotte
at approximately 9:30 p.m.

How Much Does it Cost?

1.  Ski/Snowboard equipment owners (Lift ticket and
transportation) ------------------------- $105
2.  Adult Learn to Ski/Snowboard (Skis/boot rental, lift
ticket, lesson and transportation - $136
3.  Senior/Youth Learn to Ski/Snowboard (Skis/boot rental, lift ticket, 1 hr. lesson and transportation - $125
(Youth: age 5-12 & Seniors: Age 65 and older)
Following lesson, kids rejoin parents or friends for the day.
 
3.  SkiWee/Snow Explorers Youth Learning Program-
8:45a-4p! Ages 5-12 (Includes All equipment rentals, ski or snow board lessons, lunch, supervision and your piece of mind ) ---- $159
Ski Bib Rental Avail. ($10), (Half Day Program Avail. on Request ($145)
Parents, this is safe, one on one time for your children with instructors while you relax or ski.
  
4.  Sightseer (Transportation Only) ------------------------------$45
5.  Add on lessons for sharpening skills?.........................$23
6.  Add-on Snow Tubing Available ---(prices begin at 27.95 plus 6%
tax, minimum of 15 required to get this price. Inform Trip leader of your interest so that a list can be formed.

It is highly recommended that First Timers take a lesson. Bring Friends and Family, particularly young kids and learn together!

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING!
 
Come dressed for the cold and in layers and bring money for your meals.  If needed, ski bibs and helmets available for rent, but you must bring your own waterproof winter coat, waterproof gloves, sun glasses or inexpensive ski goggles. Drink plenty of water the day before the trip and make sure that you and your children turn in early and get a good nights sleep despite sleeping time on the bus.

We are a group of predominately African-American skiers in Charlotte and the surrounding areas who enjoy sporting activities and camaraderie with people of all backgrounds,  ethnicities and sexual orientations.
