Charter System Foundation

The Charter System Foundation, Inc. was founded on the belief that meaningful change in education can occur only if principals, teachers, parents, and community partners are empowered with the authority and flexibility to make decisions at the school house level to best meet the individual needs of each student.

GA College & Career Academies

Calhoun and Gordon County Districts Host

Georgia College and Career Academy Network Regional Meeting

Calhoun City Schools partnered with Gordon County Schools to host the Georgia College and Career Academy Network (GCCAN) 2022 Fall Northwest Georgia Regional Meeting. With nearly 100 in attendance, community, district, and state leaders joined to discuss programs and opportunities to enhance the future workforce and overall student achievement. The Charter System Foundation Career Development team and Technical College System of Georgia staff provided insight into strategic planning and conducting partnerships to ignite the innovation for best practices in critical workforce areas.

Leading the discussion of College and Career Academy programs and opportunities and economic development were Ben McCumber, Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), and Patrick Ledford, Georgia Department of Education Economic Development. Gordon County Chamber of Commerce President, Kathy Johnson, shared insight into the areas of significant growth in the community and Eric Waters, Charter System Foundation, led the group to discuss innovations in industry and education to benefit workforce development.

CCS Director of College and Career Programs, Brandi Hayes, highlighted programs provided within the Pk-12 district that continue to focus on moving students from crayons to careers. Calhoun High School junior and CCCA student Emily Nebb shared insight from a student standpoint about the flexible, innovative opportunities helping her prepare for the future workforce.

Calhoun City Schools would like to thank technical college partner Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) and lunch sponsor Georgia Power for hosting the event.
