Dear Charter School Parents and Supporters,

As students and teachers embark on a new year full of exciting educational opportunities, we would like to thank you for your support of public charter school students and to share some of the news and events happening inside and outside New Hampshire.

2023 Charter School Best Practices Conference

On September 19th and 20th Charter School Leadership from across the state came together to attend workshops and share ideas at the Charter School Best Practices Conference. Topics focused on grants, key performance indicators, cultivating student agency and engagement, and board structures, just to name a few.

Thank you to all that were able to attend! Many great ideas and best practices were shared to better the Charter School community and foster new relationships.

School Tours

Windham Academy

This week I had the pleasure of touring Windham Academy (WA) located in Windham NH. WA is a K-7th grade school that focuses on science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STREAM).

The school is in their sixth year of operation. They currently have approx. 400 students and will be adding 8th grade next year with an anticipated enrollment of 450.

WA is able to expand the school using fundraising and grant funds! The space will include a gym/cafeteria/auditorium, a new STEM lab and art room. The new addition will also create a wing specifically for the middle school students.

WA has recognized the transportation challenges for many students coming from outside of Windham. They are in the process of creating their own bussing system for out of town students! As they work through these challenges we will be watching WA as a possible model for other charter schools in the future.

While on my tour I was shown their new incentive program, a book vending machine! Students are rewarded with tokens which they can then use to "purchase" books. (See photo)

Thank you Windham Academy for allowing me to tour your school during your busy day. If you are interested in having me come to your school for tour please click here to contact me.
