1.) You know how to whistle, don’t you? 2.) What are a girl’s best friend? 3.) Who’s that lady-looking-fella in the suit? The answers lie in a house like no other: Chateau Beachwood.
This French Normandy townhome and icon of Studio Reign Hollywood lives up to its royal name with turrets straight from the Disneyland logo, a front balcony straight from Versailles (the Versailles on the back lot at Paramount), and queenly occupants straight from the silver screen — Warner Bros. built Chateau Beachwood to house the likes of Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, Madonna, and Marilyn Monroe.
If these walls (and their soaring casement windows) could talk, they would tell stories of Greta (when she was still social) staring up at the bedrooms’ dreamy wedding cake relief plasterwork; of Marilyn marveling at the green magnesite staircase; of Madonna slipping into the cast iron Jadeite tub (this material bird’s favorite detail of the house!)
Grab a coffee at the Beachwood Cafe and walk on over to a true life palace where you can learn: 1.) just put your beak together and blow; 2.) shrimp; 3.) that’s Marlene Dietrich.
