Fall 2015 Edition   

This is the second edition of the Chatham Borough Newsletter!  Each quarter, our newsletter will arrive via email to remind you of important upcoming events, key dates, and general information about what's happening in the Borough.  This information and more can be found on the Chatham Borough website.  

Here are some of the highlights happening this fall and important general information.  We've made it a simple bulleted list so it's easy to print and hang on the fridge!

Enjoy the Brisk Fall Weather of September:
  • Saturday, September 26th from 9----11 a.m. the flu clinic will offer vaccination shots at:
    • St. Patrick's Parish Center
      45 Oliver St.
Time to Harvest in October:
  • Saturday, October 10th----The Fire Department will hold its annual open house from
    10 a.m.----1 p.m.
  • Monday, October 12th----Columbus Day
    • Municipal Offices and Schools Closed
  • The Mulch Area will be open weekdays starting October 19th from 1----3 p.m. for leaf drop off
It's Getting Colder in November:
  • Property Taxes Due November 1st----10th
  • Sunday, November 1st at 2:00 a.m.----Daylight Saving Time ends
  • Saturday, November 21st from 8 a.m.----1 p.m.----Last day for Farmers Market
  • Thursday, November 26th (Thanksgiving Day)
    • Municipal Offices, Library and Schools closed
    • No Trash Pickup
  • Friday, November 27th---- Municipal Offices, Library and Schools closed
  • The Mulch Area will be open weekdays from 1----3 p.m. Please note: No leaves may be placed at the curb after November 23rd

Button up the Coats it's December:
  • The Mulch Area will be open through December 4th from 1----3 p.m. for leaf drop off
  • Saturday, December 5th from 12----4 p.m will be the last day for the Mulch Area
  • Thursday, December 24th
    • Recycling Pickup
    • Santa Arrives at Fire House Plaza at 2 p.m.
  • Christmas Day, December 25th
    • 1st Day of Kwanzaa
    • Municipal Offices and Library Closed
    • NO Trash or Recycling Pickup
  • Sunday, December 27th----Library Closed


All Fall:
  • The Pilgrim Pipeline Project has not gone away.  Read the latest developments on Chatham Borough website 
  • Remember Chatham Borough runs with the assistance of many volunteers.  Currently the Fire Department and the Chatham Emergency Squad are looking for volunteers
  • Keep informed on happenings at the Chatham Library by reading the Library's monthly newsletter
  •  Please remember that water restrictions are still in place: Lawn watering may be conducted only between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.  If your house number is odd, then you may only water on odd days, and if your house number is even, then you may only water on even days
  • Remember you can view the Chatham Borough Council meetings online here: Council Meetings
Fall/Winter Recreation Activities:
  •  For our youth, registration will open in October for our ski program. The program is open to those currently in grades 7 and 8 (6th grade if openings). The Saturday night program will begin early January and run for 5----6 weeks. Space is limited
  • A youth in-town recreation league basketball program, for those currently in grades 3----8, will begin registration in October. That program is held Saturdays beginning late November
  • The youth basketball program also offers a "Travel" component to its program for those currently in grades 4----8.  Tryouts for those teams will begin October 5th.  Teams will be chosen mid-October with practices beginning early November. Players selected for a travel team will also need to participate in the recreation league program
  • For our adults, a weeknight Men's Over 35 Basketball Program is offered as well as a Sunday Men's League Basketball Program. Women's Volleyball is offered on Monday nights
