Spring 2016 Edition   


This is the 4 th edition of the Chatham Borough Newsletter!  Each quarter, our newsletter will arrive via email to remind you of important upcoming events, key dates, and general information about what's happening in the Borough.  This and more can also be found on the Chatham Borough website.  

Here are some of the highlights happening this spring and important general information.  We've made it a simple bulleted list so it's easy to print and hang on the fridge!

Spring has sprung it's March:
  •   Monday, March 21 st
    • Curbside Brush Pickup--Bundle your twigs, branches and brush from the yard so that no branch is longer than 4 feet long or 4 inches in diameter, and place bundle at curb by 7:30 a.m. for pickup by the Borough.
  • Wednesday, March 23rd----Mulch Area open from  1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Friday, March 25 th ----Borough Offices are closed
  • Saturday, March 26th----Mulch Area open from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Smell the roses it's April
  • Thursday, April 7th----Bulk pickup for Route A
  • Friday, April 8th----Bulk pickup for Route B
  • Saturday, April 30th----8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    • Fishing Derby at Kelley's Pond

Planning a new lawn or garden?  Remember that mandatory water restrictions are in effect.  If your house number is odd, you may water on odd days, and even house numbers may water on even days. 

Almost everything blooms in May :
  • Sunday, May 1st----8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    • Fishing Derby at Kelly's Pond
  • Sunday, May 1st through Tuesday, May 10th----Taxes Due
  • Thursday, May 5th----Bulk pickup for Route A
  • Friday, May 6th----Bulk pickup for Route B
  • Saturday, May 7th----Borough's Spring Clean 2016 from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
    • Volunteers meet at Reasoner Park by the firehouse and help make Chatham's public spaces beautiful.  The first 200 volunteers to pre-register receive a free T-shirt!
June damp and warm, does the farmer no harm:
  • Thursday, June 2nd----Bulk pickup for Route A 
  • Friday, June 3rd
    • Borough Office Summer Hours Begin--Borough Hall closed at 1 p.m. Friday until September 9th
    • Bulk pickup Route B 
  • Tuesday, June 7th----Primary Election
  • Saturday, June 11th
    • Farmers' Market Opens----8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    • Fishawack Festival 10 a.m.
  • Monday, June 20th----Municipal Offices closed for inventory


Reminder & Planning Ahead:
Mulch Area Hours:
  • Wednesdays----1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturdays----12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Chatham Library:
  • Something is always happening at the Chatham Library.  Keep informed on happenings at the Chatham Library by reading the Library's monthly newsletter. 
Hold the Date:
  • Monday, July 4th----Fire Department Inspection 9:15 a.m. at Firehouse; Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. (rain or shine).  Fireworks state at dusk Chatham Middle School (rain date----July 5th.
Chatham Recreation:

Chatham Borough Memorial Park Pool:
Registration will begin on April 1 st for the Memorial Park Pool.  An "Early" fee will be in effect through April 15 th. After April 15 th the regular season fees will go into effect. Fees and information are posted on the Chatham Borough website under Pool. The pool will open May 28 th.
Registration information is also available for the 2016 Tennis Memberships.

Spring/Summer Registrations:
Registration will begin in April for the Chatham Men's Softball League and in May for the Chatham Women's Softball League. Registration will take place at Chatham Recreation website by going to Community Pass our online registration system.

Fall Registrations:
Please also watch our website regarding fall registration information for Cross Country, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Soccer, Football, Flag Football, Cheerleading.
