Summer 2016 Edition   

This is the 5 th edition of the Chatham Borough Newsletter.  This edition begins our second year! Drop us an email note at the email address listed above and let us know how we are doing and provide us with any suggestions you might have.

Each quarter, our newsletter will arrive via email to remind you of important upcoming events, key dates, and general information about what's happening in the Borough.  This and more can also be found on the Chatham Borough website.  

Here are some of the highlights happening this summer and important general information.  We've made it a simple bulleted list so it's easy to print and hang on the fridge!

June is the time for Summer to begin
  • Sunday, June 19th--- Library closes every Sunday of the summer.
  • Monday, June 20th--- Municipal offices closed inventory.
  • Thursday, June 23rd---Last day of school, early dismissal.  Summer vacation begins.
  • Monday, June 27th----Council meeting at 7:30 p.m.

July is for vacations
  •  Monday, July 4th----Independence Day Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. (Parade will be held rain or shine. Fireworks at dusk to be held at the Chatham Middle School (July 5th is the rain date).
  • Tuesday, July 5th----Trash pickup (Routes A & B)
  • Thursday, July 7th----Route A Bulk Pickup
  • Friday, July 8th----Route B Bulk Pickup
  • Monday, July 11th----Council meeting at 7:30 p.m.
  • Monday, July 25th----Council meeting at 7:30 p.m.

Take it easy it's August
  • August 1st----10th----Property Taxes due
  • Thursday, August 4th----Route A Bulk Pickup
  • Friday, August 5th----Route B Bulk Pickup
  • Monday, August 8th----Council meeting at 7:30 p.m.
Summer ends and school begins in September:
  • Thursday, September 1st----Bulk pickup for Route A 
  • Friday, September 2nd---Bulk pickup for Route B
  • Monday, September 5th (Labor Day)
    • Municipal offices closed
    • Library closed
    • Final day of Municipal Pool
    • No trash pickup
  • Tuesday, September 6th
    • First day of school
    • Route A & B trash pickup
  • Saturday, September 10th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.---Sustainability Fair to be held at  Railroad Plaza-South
  • Monday, September 12th----Council meeting at 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 22nd----Fall arrives
  • Saturday, September 24th----Flu Clinic

Reminder & Planning Ahead:

Keep abreast of emergency situations including road closing.  Make sure your contact information is up-to-date or sign up for the service if you haven't do so by clicking

Mulch Area Hours:
  • Wednesdays----1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturdays----12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Trash Pickup:
  • Mondays and Thursday for Route A except as noted above
  • Mondays and Fridays for Route B except as noted above
Farmers' Market:
  • Every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. for the summer.  The Farmers' Market is located at the Railroad Plaza South, off of Fairmount Avenue.
Chatham Library:
  • Something is always happening at the Chatham Library.  Keep informed on happenings at the Chatham Library by reading the Library's monthly newsletter.  The Library will be closed on Sundays for the summer.
Chatham Recreation:

Chatham Borough Memorial Park Pool:
Join us this summer at the Chatham Borough Memorial Park Pool. Member registration is available online and at the pool. Come and enjoy the pool, relax poolside and have lunch or dinner under the picnic canopy. Children can also enjoy the adjoining playground, basketball court and library.
Registration is also taking place, at the pool, for member swim lessons (group and private). Lessons begin Monday, June 27 th.  Information is posted on the Chatham Borough website  under pool.
The pool is open weekends through June 19 th and will open its full time summer schedule Friday, June 24 th.
Chatham Borough Tennis:
Membership information, for our 2016 Tennis Memberships, is available on the Chatham Borough website. The tennis courts are located next to the Chatham Middle School.
Summer/Fall Registrations:
Registration is taking place for the Summer Chatham Over 25 Women's Softball League and Fall Field Hockey, Soccer, Football, Flag Football and Cheerleading. Fall Cross Country and Volleyball information is being finalized. Information is available on the Chatham Recreation website. Information is also available on the Recreation website regarding summer sport camps offered by our Chatham High School coaching staff.
Fall Volunteers:
If your child will be registered for one of our Chatham youth athletic activities, and you would  like to volunteer as a Coach or an Assistant, Fingerprint Background Checks are required (Name Check Renewals for those fingerprinted prior to August 2012). Please view the information on our Chatham Recreation website or contact Carol Nauta.
