Happy New Year from Cheat A Little Catering!
As 2017 becomes a distant memory, and 2018 is upon us, I would like to share my gratitude for all who have chosen Cheat A Little Catering as their event specialists. We are so proud of the amazing events that we were a part of this past year, and we are so excited to work with you in 2018. 

English writer Samuel Pepys once wrote, “Strange to see how a good dinner and feasting reconciles everybody.”

Here at Cheat A Little Catering, we believe a good meal (and a little partying) also reconciles everyone, so let us help you bring people together in 2018. We are always available to discuss how an intimate engagement or a large event can be a source of unity and fun! Our experienced team of event planners can work to create memorable moments for you and your guests and all the while allowing our special chef-crafted menus bring people to the table. Let 2018 be the year of celebration, and let Cheat A Little Catering celebrate alongside of you.

Employee Spotlight: James Healey, Cheat A Little Catering’s Director of Catering and Sales
James joined Cheat A Little Catering’s team in July 2017 where he is responsible for sales, event planning, overall catering experience and working closely with our clientele to ensure they have a successful event. Prior to joining CAL, James spent more than 20 years as an event professional; including hotel catering management, leading variety of fundraising events, and specializing in weddings. James is author of “The Silent Auction,” available from publisher Rose Dog Books, and has served as chairman of San Francisco Chapter of NACE (National Association for Catering and Events). James is available to discuss all of your catering and event planning needs. 

January is National Soup Month! So, in honor of a hot bowl of soup for a cold winter month, Cheat A Little Catering's Executive Chef, Mike Espy, is sharing a delicious Split Pea with Ham Soup recipe for you to make at home.
National Soup Month Recipe: Split Pea Soup with Ham
2lb dried split peas
1gal cold water
1       large yellow onion diced small
2      clove garlic
1       ham hock (smoked)
Salt and Pepper (to taste)

  1. Sauté onion and garlic on med heat, until tender.
  2. Add ham hock and cold water, simmer for one hour
  3. Add split peas cook until tender or desired consistency.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Garnish with ham and serve with your favorite bread!
