Welcome to this issue of the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce Newsletter!   This newsletter goes out to nearly 2000 individual emails and is posted on our   facebook page  each week.  It is designed to keep you informed of the latest info from your local Chamber of Commerce.   Feel free to forward this Newsletter to someone who should be a member or is interested in information about what is going on in the Cheboygan Area.  We want our information to get to as many inboxes as possible!  Be sure to also visit our web site and community calendar at www.cheboygan.com/calendar/ for more information.

FIRE UP CHIEFS!

It's Homecoming week in Cheboygan and the Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Cheboygan are reminding all Cheboyganites to show your spirit!  Get out your Chiefs gear or wear black and orange not only this Friday, but every Friday throughout the school year to support our students, and student athletes!

This Friday, join East Elementary and Bishop GMC Cadillac for a tailgate party at Washington Park from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, catch the Homecoming parade at
6:00 pm, then head over to Western Avenue Field for the big game.  Cheer on the 3 - 2 Chiefs as they take on the 1 -4 Ogemaw Heights Falcons. 
 

State of the Community Breakfast October 5.  

On the morning of October 5th 2018, at the Cheboygan Opera House , the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce will produce its 2018 State of the Community Breakfast.  The goal of this event is to report the most accurate and up to date information to the community on a variety of topics through key note speakers and a compiled report from many of the organizations doing the economic and community development work.  Click here for more information on topics and speakers presenting .

Tickets are $10 per person or $15 at the door.  Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Chamber Office or by calling 231-627-7183.  They can also be purchased on line at www.cheboygan.com.

Ribbon Cutting and Vessel Christening for Yankee Sunshine

The Yankee Sunshine is the new glass bottom boat based in Cheboygan that is giving tours of the ship wrecks in the Straits of Mackinaw near Cheboygan.  Please join the Cheboygan Chamber Ambassadors Team on Thursday September 27th as we celebrate Nautical North Family Adventures new feature the  Yankee Su nshine.  There will be a general open house from 5pm - 7pm with the ribbon cutting taking place at approx 5:30pm followed by a christening of the boat and a blessing by Fr. Duane from St Mary/St Charles Catholic Church .  For more information about how to book a tour on the Yankee Sunshine please visit Nautical North Family Adventures web site to look at times and tours that are available. The Yankee Sunshine is docked on the Cheboygan River at the Cheboygan Village Marina which is located at 123 S. Main St in C heboygan.  We hope you can join us!
Cheboygan Area Featured in Crain's Detroit Business

October 11th Business After Hours Info.

Golden River Orchard will host our 5th Annual Business After Hours on October 5th from 5:00-7:00PM.  Come out and see the awesome fall colors and enjoy some fresh Honeycrisp apples or pick a pumpkin from our patch.  We will have some great food and beverages to enjoy with your friends and family.  Knaffle's Tent Rental & Mini Storage is participating again with us this year, as a cosponsor so that everyone stays comfortable in case of weather.  

This event is always one of the most popular After Hours on the schedule and a great way to kick off the fall season in Cheboygan! 

Cost is $10 for general public and just $5 for Chamber Members.

Fall in Love with Local Businesses

Getting excited for fall?! Kick off Fall Fest weekend with a festive night out! Cheboygan entrepreneurs have teamed together to create a "Fall in Love with Local Businesses" event at The Hayloft above The Coop on Wednesday, October 3rd from 6-8pm. The event is limited to 30 attendees and will include a fashion show by Urban Bird & Co., jewelry making, a meal and food demonstration, and a wall art project with Lindsey Vork Photography and The Coop, all with a fall flair! 

Brandt's Sports Center Open and Rebuilding

The newly opened Secrets on Main Bed & Breakfast is pleased to share we experienced a surprisingly successful summer! Very few nights was the 1892 home without an overnight guest!

COLLEGE NIGHT AT NORTH CENTRAL MICHIGAN COLLEGE

North Central Michigan College invites high school juniors and seniors and their parents to College Night, Wednesday, October 10. The event will be held on the Petoskey campus in the Student and Community Resource Center from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Carpe DM to Play Carnegie

The Cheboygan Carnegie is once again hosting the "Play the Carnegie" concert series.  Spear headed by Dale Rieger, this series showcases many local and Northern Michigan musicians and will continue every Sunday through December from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Admission is by donation.  This week featuring Carpe DM Band, and enjoy everything from everything from old
Irish lullabies to folk, country, and classic rock. 


Bake Sale to Benefit Student Tuition Assistance 

Cornerstone Christian School is holding a bake sale on Friday October 12 at Family Fare from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.  All monies raised go to student tuition assistance.
