State of the Community Breakfast October 5.  Tickets on Sale Now.

In case you haven't noticed, there is a lot going on in Cheboygan these days. There are at least one or two new businesses opening each week it feels like. Some buildings are being renovated while others are coming down to make way for the next page of history. There are also numerous groups and organizations that are actively involved in so many different causes and efforts, for the betterment of Cheboygan, that sometimes it is hard to know which one to follow.   The Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce would like to help clear up some of that potential confusion.

On the morning of October 5th 2018, at the Cheboygan Opera House, the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce will produce its State of the Community Breakfast.  The goal of this event is to report the most accurate and up to date information to the community on a variety of topics through key note speakers and a compiled report from many of the organizations doing the economic and community development work.  Click here for more information on topics, speakers presenting and how to attend this event.

Tickets are $10 per person or $15 at the door.  Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Chamber Office or by calling 231-627-7183.  They can also be purchased on line at www.cheboygan.com.

We hope to see everyone there at this great event for our community.

Michigan Works Helps Local Business to Train 9 and Hire 2  Thanks to Skilled Trades Training Grant

Bliss Painting of Alpena is a painting company that specializes in residential, commercial, and industrial wall coatings and coverings. They've been voted the #1 painter in Alpena for 5 years in a row now. Because of this honor (as well as national awards in painting), Bliss has given back to their community by doing charity work for churches, schools, and non-profits. But, like many skilled trade companies, they struggled with finding the right candidates who want to work in their industry, often having to hire people with no experience and spend precious time training them for many months at a time.

The DALMAC is Coming!

Dear Cheboygan Chamber Members,

On Saturday, September 1, 2018, Cheboygan High School will be hosting approximately 300 bicyclists who are riding the annual DALMAC ~ Dick Allen Lansing to Mackinaw Bicycle Tour.
A shuttle from the school to downtown Cheboygan is being provided to cyclists so they can come into town to enjoy ice cream, snacks, an extra meal, an adult beverage, or a walk.
DALMAC riders bring enthusiasm and important financial benefit to the towns they visit.
We invite you to enjoy their visit and welcome them into your establishment.
If you would like to learn more about DALMAC, please visit their website at www.dalmac.org .
Thank you!
Al Simons
Event Coordinator

P.S. Another DALMAC volunteer will be Snail-mailing a stack of "DALMAC Spoken Here" signs to the Chamber of Commerce.  They are (approximately) 8.5 by 11 inch hard stock poster cards that the businesses should post in a window (or anywhere), as this lets ALL bicyclists know you are inviting them in.  There are about 300 cyclists coming thru Cheboygan, but literary, thousands of Michigan cyclists (yes, even cyclists on other Michigan tours) are familiar with this sign and its meaning.  We encourage the businesses to leave these up year-round!  To get a sign for your business please contact the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce
