Welcome to this issue of the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce Newsletter!   This newsletter goes out to nearly 2000 individual emails and is posted on our   facebook page  each week.  It is designed to keep you informed of the latest info from your local Chamber of Commerce.   Feel free to forward this Newsletter to someone who should be a member or is interested in information about what is going on in the Cheboygan Area.  We want our information to get to as many inboxes as possible!  Be sure to also visit our web site and community calendar at for more information.

Welcome New Members

Thank you to all who volunteered to help with the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce 2018 Parade of Lights, brought to you by the  DTE Energy Foundation.  The evening was a huge success thanks to all of your efforts and time.  Bernard Building Center provided a great stage for our  emcee Gary Engle of G-Man Entertainment to spin the holiday tunes, and thank you to Straits Area Federal Credit Union for your sponsorship which allowed us to bring Gary back this year.  Also, big shout outs to Roger Kopernik and the agents at EXIT Realty Premier for welcoming Santa and Mrs. Claus to Cheboygan this year, and sponsoring our 1st Place Rudolph Trophy.  A big thank you to our friends at Alcona Health Center for welcoming Mr. Richard Sanford as our Grand Marshal this year, and the crew at Mulligan's for sponsoring our 2nd Place North Pole Trophy, and our 3rd Place Candy Cane Trophy!  We would also like to give a special thank you to Lindsey Vork for capturing images of the parade and festivities...  Click Here to View Lindsey's Parade of Lights Album on Facebook

Tree of Lights

Members of the McLaren Cheboygan Campus Guild, staff, and community members gathered on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 for a tree lighting ceremony. Every year as part of the Tree of Lights, a fundraiser for the McLaren Northern Michigan Cheboygan Campus, the evergreen tree outside the Emergency entrance is lit in remembrance of loved ones.

Play The Carnegie features. Ken Verheecke. 

Ken Verheecke has been performing since 1978. He played in a variety of bands throughout the 80's and in 1993, he quit his job of 13 years and began touring full time. At one point performing approx. 150 events a year. In recent years, he become quite successful as a instrumental guitarist and has see over 170,000 album downloads in Europe and Asia. He has been featured on Sampler CD's by Many Miles Music, Best New Age Reviews Guitar Sampler featuring some of the world's best guitarists. In 2012 Ken was featured on Will Ackerman's (Founder of Windham Hill) Sampler CD The Gathering which won Album of the Year at the ZMR Awards. Ken's CD release First Light was nominated for the 2016 Best Acoustic Guitar Release OWMR Awards in Europe. During the summer of 2017 Ken signed with US Based Heart Dance Records and his first two releases with Heart Dance "Consider the Moon & Stars" and "Between Earth & Sky" are on the ballot box for nominations for the upcoming 61st Grammy Awards. Ken blends stories and songs that acoustic based which appeal to a wide range of audiences. Listeners will leave a Ken Verheecke event refreshed and encouraged... something valued greatly in this day and age. Come and enjoy the acoustic stylings of Ken Verheecke.

Cheboygan Jaycees Need Your Help

Over 60 Years of Supporting Healthcare in Cheboygan

The McLaren Cheboygan Campus Guild was formed in 1958. And, while they have undergone name changes over the years, their mission remains the same... to support healthcare services in Cheboygan. Over $163,000 has been raised to support the McLaren Northern Michigan Cheboygan Campus. Join us during  Cheboygan's Hospitality Night for a special Strength For Cripps fundraiser!  Straits Area Federal Credit Union has opened their doors to allow us to raise money for the real-life superhero Adam! From 5-8pm there will be baked goods, gift wrapping, and  #strengthforCripps bracelets sold all by donation and Jasmine Rose taking pictures for $5 and Nicki Kryska selling makeup and clothing, Danielle Whitinger-Brach will have a table of Lularoe leggings for sale, and MORE! Money will go directly to Adam, Jocelyn, and Hayden :)

Join us each semester when companies are invited to participate in our Student Talent Expos! Our welding/fabricating students are prepared to meet and create great first impressions, demonstrate their skillsets, display their work, & provide resumes and welding qualification documents for your review. Students are often offered jobs before graduating.

11:00am- 12:00pm: Students will suit up in their welding gear and demonstrate their welding skillsets in the lab.

North Central Michigan College has announced that the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) Success Program has been created for North Central nursing students. The program consists of a live HURST NCLEX review which will take place on the Petoskey campus in February for second year nursing students. 
Time for this review will be built into students' medical/surgical schedule. Attendance is mandatory for the week-long live review. Following the review, there are four required tests which must be taken. Additionally the NCLEX exam fee and licensing fees will also be paid for those students who complete the review package in its entirety and take their board exam by July 15, 2019.
"Those who follow the HURST NCLEX preparation have very high NCLEX pass rates," states Dr. Jamie Pagels, Dean of Nursing, Allied Health and Science at North Central. "This success program will also help our nursing students take here to read the full press release
