Some buildings are being renovated while others are coming down to make way for the next page of history. Training Funds Available to Michigan Employers

The popular Michigan employee training fund, previously known as the Skilled Trades Training Fund, has gotten a new name this year but will still be offering over $27 million in training funds that employers can use to train their workforce. The newly named "Going PRO Talent Fund" makes awards to employers to assist in training, developing and retaining current and newly hired employees. Training funded by the Talent Fund must be short-term and fill a demonstrated talent need experienced by the employer. Training must lead to a credential for a skill that is transferable and recognized by industry.  Since the program's inception, Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium has helped secure over $1.1 million in funding for 40 different employers in its 8-county region, which allowed for over 1,000 workers to receive training.

The DALMAC is Coming!

Dear Cheboygan Chamber Members,

On Saturday, September 1, 2018, Cheboygan High School will be hosting approximately 300 bicyclists who are riding the annual DALMAC ~ Dick Allen Lansing to Mackinaw Bicycle Tour.
A shuttle from the school to downtown Cheboygan is being provided to cyclists so they can come into town to enjoy ice cream, snacks, an extra meal, an adult beverage, or a walk.
DALMAC riders bring enthusiasm and important financial benefit to the towns they visit.
We invite you to enjoy their visit and welcome them into your establishment.
If you would like to learn more about DALMAC, please visit their website at .
Thank you!
Al Simons
Event Coordinator

P.S. Another DALMAC volunteer will be Snail-mailing a stack of "DALMAC Spoken Here" signs to the Chamber of Commerce.  They are (approximately) 8.5 by 11 inch hard stock poster cards that the businesses should post in a window (or anywhere), as this lets ALL bicyclists know you are inviting them in.  There are about 300 cyclists coming thru Cheboygan, but literary, thousands of Michigan cyclists (yes, even cyclists on other Michigan tours) are familiar with this sign and its meaning.  We encourage the businesses to leave these up year-round!  To get a sign for your business please contact the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce

Old 27 Motor Tour for the 12th Year

For 12 years in a row, the Old 27 Motor Tour has allowed hundreds of classic car enthusiasts to travel the old US 27 route from Coldwater to Cheboygan.   Their slogan is "Back in the Day it was the Way."   On Saturday August 25th the Cheboygan Area Visitors Bureau will once again welcome these road warriors of yesteryear to Cheboygan and help them celebrate the completion of their almost 300 mile journey.   This year in Cheboygan, the tour will set up on the east side of town near Great Lakes Grill starting at about 4pm.  The public is invited to come and check out the vehicles on display, talk to the drivers about their trip and maybe relive their own memories.  Great Lakes Grill will serve as the "headquarters" for the drivers with a hospitality room open for them to relax and listen to classic tunes from a DJ spinning the hits.
