Author Talk - Thursday, May 15, 7 p.m.
To celebrate National Nursing Week (May 12-18, 2025), the Orangeville Public Library welcomes local Cheryl van Daalen-Smith and her debut novel The Chronicles of Paisley • Corners.
Set in the Hills of Headwaters, Cheryl creates an insightful tale of rural life, inspired by her expertise as a public health nurse and historical events in the area. The moving stories capture our shared humanity, the true meaning of belonging, and the transformative power of nurses.
This special author event will be held on Thursday, May 15 at 7 p.m. at the Mill Librray.

Tales on the Trail features Barbara Reid
Tales on the Trails at Island Lake CVC features Barbara Reid's book "Watch It Grow: Backyard Life Cycles" until the end of May.
Barbara Reid is a picture book author and illustrator whose award winning artwork is created with plasticine. She is the Honorary Chair of Family Literacy Day, celebrated every year on January 27th.

Poetry Panel - Saturday, May 17, 6 p.m.
Orangeville Public Library and the Dufferin Child and Family Services 2SLGBTQ+ youth group GLOW host a panel of poets featuring Linzey S. Corridon, Tanya Neumeyer, and GLOW youth in recognition of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

The Seed Library, in partnership with Sustainable Orangeville, is available at the Mill Library on the second level. There are small envelopes so you can take the number of seeds that you need to make you garden grow.
In partnership with Theatre Orangeville, you are encouraged to use your library card to experience live theatre. Stop by the Mill Library to check out a pass (quantity limited) to get two free seats to the current Theatre Orangeville production (I'm in Love with Your Sister). Seats are subject to availability and households are limited to one set of tickets per theatre season.
Dufferin Piecemakers Quilting Guild recently celebrated its 30th anniversary of enhancing knowledge of, and preserving the art of quilting. Stop by the Mill Library in May to see the beautiful quilt on display and to learn more about the Guild's community outreach work.
Library Board Meeting - The next meeting of the Library Board is on Wednesday, May 28, 5 p.m. at the Mill Library.

Starting on Tuesday, May 20, Orangeville Public Library will move to summer hours at the Alder Street location. Summer hours will be in place from the Tuesday after Victoria Day until Labour Day (September 1).
The Alder Street branch summer hours will be:
Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Sunday closed
The Mill Street Library open hours remain unchanged with seven days a week service.
Victoria Day Weekend hours - Both locations are closed on Sunday, May 18 and Monday, May 19. The Mill and Alder libraries are open on Saturday with regular business hours.
