February 2, 2019
Grand Bohemian Hotel

Thanks to the support of many local businesses,
community sponsors, professional artists, and volunteers, the 2019 heart2heart Event was a great success! The night featured six patient artists, who were warmly welcomed into The Grand Bohemian Hotel Ballroom in celebration of their courage and strength! We were blown away by the support we received at our 9th annual heart2heart Event. We hope everyone will make plans to join us next year for our 10th heart2heart!

Meeting the Needs of Patient Families...
|
|
Meet the Shaver Family from Auburn, AL. This precious family of five is currently staying in one of our Home Away from Home apartments in Homewood while their 5 month old daughter Gwen receives treatment at Children's Hospital of Alabama. The apartment allows her family to stay close to the hospital and provides a place to go when Gwen's siblings come to visit! Gwen has an older brother, Henry who is four, and a twin brother named Grant! Gwen was diagnosed with Osteopetrosis last November, which is a rare bone disease that is treated like cancer. Gwen recently received a bone marrow transplant, and her older brother Henry was the perfect match to be her donor. However, since the bone marrow transplant took place, Gwen has been experiencing sever complications and is currently in the PICU on the ventilator. Her body has basically gone into shock while engrafting. Please join us in praying for Gwen to make a full recovery and for her parents and doctors to have wisdom as they make decisions for her medically.

Volunteer Spotlight...
Oakworth Capital Bank
Making Blankets for Cancer Patients
|
|
We would like to say a special thank you to the employees of Oakworth Capital Bank. Earlier this month, we received over 20 handmade blankets made by several employees from Oakworth Capital Bank. These special blankets will be given throughout the year to pediatric cancer patients receiving treatment at Children's Hospital of Alabama. Thank you Oakworth Capital Bank for taking time to make blankets for patients and families, we know they are going to love receiving these! Your
time and energy will help show pediatric cancer patients they are not fighting their battles alone.
Please let us know if your company or organization would like to get involved with aTeam Ministries by emailing info@ateamministries.org. We are always looking for more volunteers and new ways to encourage cancer patients!

Investing in patient families spiritually, financially, and emotionally is the mission of aTeam Ministries! We are grateful for the opportunity we have to invest in families spiritually each week at our prayer meetings. aTeam's prayer meetings are a sweet time of prayer and fellowship at the aTeam office. The aTeam prayer journal is updated weekly with the specific needs of patients, and at our prayer meetings we read through the journal and pray for each child by name. Make plans to join us next Monday, February 25th at 9AM at the aTeam office to pray for patients and families in their greatest time of need.
Our office is located at 1809 Oxmoor Road Homewood, AL 35209.
