Volunteer Spotlight
Hattie Smith
Special Recognition
WUCNetwork's Repair Angels Coordinator
WUCNetwork has AMAZING volunteer leaders, and Hattie Smith is no exception. Miss Hattie was invited to be part of the 2021 WUCN Leadership Team in December of 2020, and quickly developed wings and has been in perpetual flight ever since. She coordinates our REPAIR ANGELS Project (Rebuilding Elderly Pride to Achieve Independence & Restoration). This unique program provides contractors to perform home repairs, and WUCN companions to spend quality time with the elderly participants. At age 69 herself, Hattie wields a hammer and a drill with the best of our volunteer male contractors. Hattie is an angel in her own right: She retired from nursing after 40 plus years, she is a successful real estate investor, she is in the midst of starting her own 501c3 non-profit organization, and she is an active Elder at More Than Conquerors Faith Church where Apostle Steve Green is her Pastor. Hattie Smith exudes energy and a willingness to do whatever she puts her hands to. She brings knowledge, wisdom, compassion and an unquenchable desire to help those who cannot help themselves. Hattie epitomizes volunteerism and gives her time, talent and treasure to all that she does. Our WUCNetwork sisterhood celebrates and congratulates Hattie Smith!
