PLEASE RETURN PUMPKINS TO FIRE DEPARTMENT TODAY!
Reminder! Jack-O-Lantern Contest & Pumpkin Drop-Off
For those who picked up pumpkins to carve, please return them to the Essex Fire Station and send us a picture to enter into the contest today!

Don't forget to go back to the Fire Station tomorrow night on Halloween evening between 6 - 8 p.m. for the drive-thru! You'll see all the carved jack-o-lanterns and Halloween stations! There might even be a St. John's display!

This is a fun and safe way for all ages to participate in some spooktacular fun, and all children will receive a candy bag at the end!
Please enter into our four-category contest: Cutest, scariest, funniest, and most creative by emailing chelsea@stjohnsessex.org.
SUNDAY IN-PERSON WORSHIP
Please set your clocks and join us for a day of special worship!

We want to remind you again that Sunday is also the beginning of Daylight Savings, and we gain an hour of sleep at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning! So, please be sure to set your clocks and don't miss our in-person or online services because we will also be installing our newest Verger, Allison Fresher!
Reminder: CHECK-IN & MASKS REQUIRED if attending in-person.
9 a.m. HolyEucharist (All Saints Day)
Join us as we social distance and worship safely inside the Sanctuary. The Rev. Warren K. Godbolt is our guest Preacher and Linda+ will be Celebrant.

Rev. Godbolt will be preaching at both services, and he is a special addition to our services this Sunday because he also works with Allison as a Hospice Chaplain. He is founder and Pastor of EnterChange Ministries located in Bridgeport, CT. Pastor Godbolt's previous appointments include serving as a Senior Pastor of Deep River Baptist Church, Deep River, CT; Senior Pastor of Ledyard Gales Ferry Baptist Church in Gales Ferry, CT; and Associate Minister at First Baptist Church, Bridgeport.

His wife Fay Godbolt will be our guest soloist. We delight in having both at our services. Please be sure to join us!
Reminder: Registration & Safety Protocols

In order to keep us all safe, we remind you that we will continue to offer worship in-person limited to fifty attendees. Our safety protocols and guidelines are on your Eventbrite ticket, and you may also view the one-page Safety Guidelines that have been in the e-news the past few months and on the church website. You may also view the 16-page document here. We will continue to livestream only our 10:45 a.m. service.

If you need help registering, please let the St. John's office know by calling 860-767-8095 or by emailing chelsea@stjohnsessex.org and we will help you through the process. Please register by 5 p.m. Saturday.

Musical Offering
Oboe Concerto in D minor, Adagio, by Tomaso Albinoni
This week's music offering adds a new dimension...video! Barrett Seals, our favorite oboist, plays the Adagio movement from the Concerto in D minor by Tomaso Albinoni and has added scenes from his travels in Australia and Scotland. Barrett is Senior Chief Musician in the Coast Guard Band and has been a "regular" at St John's for many years.
Tomaso Albinoni (1671-1751) lived in Venice and, during his lifetime, was known for his operas. Today, he is much better known for his instrumental works, particularly compositions with the oboe. He may have been the first in Italy to write for the oboe as it was an emerging new instrument at that time. It developed from early woodwind instruments like the shawm; the oboe has a beautiful solo tone. Barrett has added some interesting passing notes and ornaments to this recording, which I hope you will enjoy. I accompany him to the harpsichord.
We continue to encourage all of our congregation to participate in the weekly music offerings. Everything is safely recorded at home, and it is a chance to reach out to our fellow parishioners.

If you would like to join us, please email music@stjohnsessex.org.

DONATING TIME AND CARE TO OUR MINISTRY PARTNERS
Join the Habitat Work Team on Friday, November 13, 2020
Middlesex Habitat for Humanity's (MHFH) 16th house project constructs a new three-bedroom home located at 382 Hammock Rd. North in Westbrook, CT. The project is MHFH's first opportunity to build along the shoreline.

Due to strict safety guidelines during the COVID pandemic, we restrict the number of people working on-site to five (includes site supervisor and the new homeowner).

We need three volunteers to join the St. John's work team on Friday, November 13th, from 8:30 am-3:30 pm. Skilled and unskilled volunteers are welcome as supervisors provide on-site training.

If you cannot join us on the workday, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support the 382 Hammock Rd. North project.  Checks for any amount may be made payable to Middlesex Habitat for Humanity and given to any one of the volunteers before Nov. 13th.

Please contact David Evangelisti at 767-2075 or dage154@aol.com  if you are interested in joining the Habitat Team.

Together, we are truly making a difference with a hand up of affordable housing in Middlesex County. Thank you.

Please Note: For the health safety of the volunteers and MHFH Staff, the Job Site COVID-19 Protocols (visit our website here) must be strictly followed.
