Mississippi "The Birth Place of America's Music"

Mississippi’s contributions to the music industry have been the best-kept secret in America.

The Jackson Music Awards Association recognizes the accomplishment of outstanding national and local artists in Gospel, Hip Hop, and Rhythm and Blues music. Mississippi is regarded now as the birthplace of Blues and Gospel, and we want the world to know. Mississippi has a rich musical heritage, and these awards show help to educate and instill pride in our citizens. The educational benefits of this project will help prepare our young people for the challenges the business will bring. Young aspiring artists will be made aware of career opportunities in the music business right here in Jackson, Mississippi.

Blues music released between November 1, 2022, and October 31, 2023, is eligible for consideration.

Submission fees and deadlines:

• TODAY - July 31, 2023
• $135 per album or EP submission / $35 per song submission
•  
• August 1, 2023 – August 31, 2023
• $155 per album or EP submission / $55 per song submission
•  
• September 1, 2023 – September 30, 2023
• $180 per album or EP submission / $80 per song submission
•  
• October 1, 2023 – October 18, 2023
• $225 per album or EP submission / $125 per song submission

The submission process officially closes on October 20, 2023, at 8 a.m. CST. Music and artwork must be uploaded, and submission fee paid in full by the close date and time to be considered for a Blues Music Award nomination. Contact Joe Whitmer at joe@blues.org.
