Things To Do Around Merced

Within this email, you will find various locations for entertainment and popular restaurants within the Merced County area. Take a moment and browse some of the key spots in town. Don't miss some of the favorites in town!
Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park is best known for its mesmerizing waterfalls, but there is much more to see and do. Activities include: hiking, backpacking, tours, biking, fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, volunteering, and much more.
YNP - Views
Explore the variety of landscapes and amazing scenery Yosemite has to offer.If you're not into physical activities, you can enjoy the valley with a picnic.
YNP - Hikes
There are hiking trails for all levels of experience. Each of them with breathtaking views and lots of history. Lots of great scenery for some creative photography!
Lake Yosemite
Lake Yosemite is only a few minutes away from UC Merced. If you enjoy a beautiful sunset, here is the place to be. Other activities include: picnics, fishing, volleyball (sand courts), paddle boarding, and kayaking.
Take a walk on the bridge and enjoy the beautiful morning sunrise or evening sunset.
Visit The Padyak Shack and go have some fun with your fellow classmates! You can rent out all the necessary gear and choose from paddle boarding to kayaking.
The Cue Spot Billiards
The Cue Spot Billiards is located in downtown Merced just under 10 miles from UC Merced. Go with friends, shoot some pool, enjoy some drinks, and just have a great time!
Amenities include: pool tables, shuffleboard, ping pong, air hockey, a jukebox, and other arcade games.
For special occasions or just for fun, take your friends and enjoy over 120 different kinds of beer.
Coffee Bandits
Coffee Bandits is also located in downtown Merced a few miles from campus. Enjoy some coffee, pastries, and a calm peaceful environment. Occasionally, they will have local musicians perform.
Choose from a wide selection of items such as: iced tea, coffee, lattes, expressos, sandwiches, bagels, and pastries (vegan options available).
Once regulations allow customers to stay inside, take your studying elsewhere and enjoy some coffee and pastries while you're at it.
Dust Bowl
The Dust Bowl is a brewery/restaurant located in nearby Turlock, CA. They offer over 20 taps at the inside bar and patio dining area.
Outside they have patio dining, beer garden, and activities such as corn hole, life size jenga, bocce, and more!
If you don't feel like being outside, enjoy some craft beer and full size restaurant service indoors.
Places for Boba
Em-Tea and Quickly's are the places to go if you are looking for some delicious boba drinks. Both located in North Merced only at a short distance from each other only a few minutes away from UC Merced.
Em-Tea is located in North Merced just a few minutes from campus. All drinks are tea based and desserts are all freshly made every day.
Quickly's is a counter-serve cafe chain for Taiwanese bubble tea in many flavors. They also have asian desserts and snacks. Located in the promenade where you can find several other food options.
Movie Theaters
The Regal Hollywood Cinema and Regal UA Regency movie theaters are the places to go if you are trying to enjoy a great movie outside the house. Go with some friends and enjoy some popcorn!
The Regal Hollywood Cinema is located in downtown Merced. It will be opening back up again on May 14, 2021.
The UA Regency movie theater is located in North Merced right next to the Merced Mall. It will be opening back up again on May 21, 2021.
The Art Kamangar Center at The Merced Theatre
The Art Kamangar Center at The Merced Theatre also located in downtown Merced, has been host to hundreds of events. The Theatre offers movie screenings, stand up comedy, orchestras, concerts, and live theatrical productions.
The Castle Air Museum
Castle Air Museum gives visitors a peek into the past and lends insight into the evolution of aircraft and the past milestones of aviation. It offers visitors of all ages a glimpse of what the future of aerospace might hold.
Merced Art Hop

The Merced Art Hop is an arts fair and community event that happens four times a year in downtown Merced. Enjoy a stroll through Main Street, and admire the work of local artists.

Merced/Atwater Flea and Farmers Markets
The Merced/Atwater Flea Markets have a variety of vendors. They have fresh fruits, vegetables, food, household items, plants, furniture, collectibles, and anything else you can think of!
