Fall is in the air and TeamSmile is on the move!
We started Fall off in Kansas City at the GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on September 27 with a program with the Kansas City Chiefs, followed by a Phase II program with the Memphis Grizzlies on September 30. The team is preparing to head to Minneapolis for a program at U.S. Bank Stadium with the Minnesota Vikings on October 11. We also started the Fall off by announcing TeamSmile the Dental Home Project, Powered by DentaQuest. This is exciting news as the care and treatment will go on even after our programs!

Erica D. Hill comes to Team Smile with 13 years of experience in the dental field. Most recently Erica was a traveling assistant covering the states of Kansas and Missouri, going into nursing facilities providing oral care to the elderly.
Erica was a lead back office assistant with Pacific Dental, responsible for an inventory budget. Later, she was a Dental Assistant instructor with Concord Career College where she also received her diploma. Her previous career was with Head Start as a Lead teacher to financially challenged families with children ranging from infant to age five.
She is committed to empathy, honesty and joy, which starts with being a mother to two beautiful girls. In her spare time, Erica like crafts and reinventing old furnishings.
“Erica Hill is an excellent fit as our Dental Home Coordinator, as she is compassionate and genuinely cares about the children that we serve. She has spent a great deal of time to build the dental home network, and has connected children throughout the country with a dental home in their community. We’re fortunate to have such a caring and kind person serving as our Dental Home Coordinator.”
John McCarthy, Executive Director of TeamSmile
“Working with TeamSmile as the Dental Home Coordinator gives me the opportunity to bridge the gap between families with financial challenges and their oral health care, it is a great privilege to put families and children in position to make the best dental choices for their overall health right in their community, that would otherwise be neglected, due to lack of transportation, time off work and not having routine visits established from childhood. TeamSmile offers not only a day of teeth cleanings and other dental needs, but education about oral health.”

Dental Home Project powered by DentaQuest
|
|
A Dental Home is the ongoing relationship between a child and a compassionate dental team who takes care of the child/youth’s dental health needs in a family-centered way. This is the dental team that the child will visit regularly (every six months) for periodic checkups — to catch problems early and to be sure teeth are healthy. Children with a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care at the right time, reducing the risk of preventable dental disease and costly dental care later in life. TeamSmile and DentaQuest believe that every child deserves a fair shot at good oral health and the chance to live a healthy and productive life.
“We are so proud to launch the Dental Home Project, Powered by DentaQuest, as this venture will ultimately have a positive and lasting impact on thousands of children in need throughout our country. It’s a major initiative that will allow TeamSmile to fulfill our mission to a much greater degree. We are tremendously grateful to DentaQuest for their belief in this project. Together, we WILL make a difference!”
John McCarthy, Executive Director of TeamSmile
“We are so proud of our work with TeamSmile in communities across the U.S.,”
“Partnering with local dental teams, our employees, business partners and community volunteers, we’re teaching more kids about the importance of prevention and giving them a fair shot at good oral health. Good health starts in the mouth, and connecting people with the care they need to be healthy is a key part of our Preventistry platform.”
